November 14, 1999 Permian Basin Obituaries _________________________________________________________________ ODESSA -- Zelma "Jean" Pittman passed away in her home with her children and grandchildren at her bedside. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. "Jean" was a wonderful friend to all who knew her. Through her love and prayers she touched numerous lives. She attended the First United Pentecostal Church of Odessa for many years. Jean encountered physical disabilities throughout her life, but it never stopped her from reaching out and praying or sharing with others. She will always be remembered for her strength and Faith in God. "Jean" exchanged her feeble, fleshly body for a glorious heavenly one on Nov. 11, 1999. She was born Nov. 19, 1925, in Idabel, Okla. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at First United Pentecostal Church with the Rev. Terry Pugh officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, O.L. "Ted" Pittman, and her daughter, Gearline Pittman. Survivors include her sons, Teddy Pittman and Tommy Pittman, both of Odessa, Dwaine Pittman of Scurry and Ronny Pittman of Odessa; daughters, Diane Scott of Odessa and Earline Simmons of Austin; brother, Jim Turnage of Greenville, Miss.; sisters, Eveyln Yee and Agnes Hattaway, both of Shreveport, La., Mardella Coats of Metairie, La., Lela Bowyer of Austin, Betty Perkins of Springtown and Sue Lewis of Clinton, Miss.; 18 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Services entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. _________________________________________________________________ ODESSA -- Angus Neil "Mac" McDonald, 90, of Odessa went to his Heavenly Home Saturday, Nov. 13, 1999, in a local hospital. Mr. McDonald was born Aug. 1, 1909 in Winters, Texas. He married Myrtle Lavenia Coburn on Sept. 26, 1937, in Carlsbad, N.M. She preceded him in death in 1991. They moved to Odessa in 1945 from Grand Prairie where he worked for American Airlines. He worked as a purchasing agent for Gulf for over 44 years and was a member of the Eisenhower Church of Christ. Mr. McDonald will always be remembered for his strength and faith in God. His greatest delight was his family. His lessons of life will long be remembered by his family and friends. His personal interests included watching his great-grandchildren play, family genealogy, his pets and his Scottish heritage. For many years, he was cared for by his son and daughter-in-law, Neil and Rhuine McDonald. He was preceded in death by his wife; a brother, James McDonald; a sister, Margaret McDonald; and his parents, Henry and Maggie McDonald. He is survived by one son, Angus Neil McDonald Jr. of Odessa; one daughter, Virginia Whigham of Farmington, N.M.; one brother, Cecil McDonald of Hurst; four grandchildren, Lance Neil McDonald of Ft. Worth, Lauri McDonald Scull of Fort Worth, Lisa McDonald Robertson of Lubbock and Linda Whigham Corwin of Houston; four great-grandchildren, Christopher Michael Robertson and Cory McDonald Robertson of Lubbock, Shelbie Cecile McDonald of Fort Worth and Casey Ryan Scull of Fort Worth. Mr. McDonald felt so blessed to have lived long enough to enjoy each of them. Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 16, 1999, in the Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Michael Robertson and Cecil Robertson officiating. Entombment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens Mausoleum under the direction of Hubbard-Kelly FuneraI Home. _________________________________________________________________ ODESSA -- Belle Franks, 81, of Odessa, died Nov. 10, 1999, at Seabury Nursing Home. She was born April 22, 1918, in Oklahoma City, Okla. She married Elmer O. Franks Aug. 28, 1938, in Oklahoma City, Okla. She was employed by Wilson Meat Packing in Oklahoma City for 14 years as a comtomper operator. Mrs. Franks moved to Odessa in 1959. She was a member of Ector County Sheriff's Posse, Moose Lodge and Odessa Forum Club. She was also a member of the Antique Car Club and Permian Basin Oil Burners Club. She loved to travel and see the world and explore life. She retired as a hairdresser after being employed by Second Look Hair Salon. She was a Baptist. She was preceded in death by her sister, Leota Eades; and a grandson, Daniel Owens Jr. She is survived by her husband, Elmer O. Franks Sr. of Odessa; daughters, Claudine Humphrey of Huntington Beach, Calif., and Ruth Rogge Chastain of Arlington; son, Elmer O. Franks Jr. of Fort Stockton; granddaughters, Karen Penhall, Debra King and Joy Franks; grandsons, David Owens, Kyle Thompson, and Robert Franks; six great-grandchildren; sisters, Lillian Williams, Jesse Skinner and sister-in-law, Lucille Owens, all of Oklahoma City. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 15, 1999, in the Chapel of Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors with the Rev. Clydel Chapman officiating. "Jeff" Jeffery Jr., 74, of Odessa passed away Friday, Nov. 12, 1999. Mr. Jeffery was born Aug. 12, 1925, in Shidler, Okla., to Viola and Glenn B. Jeffery Sr. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served during World War II. He married Pauline Graham on April 19, 1944, in Seminole, Okla., and they moved to Odessa in January 1946. He was employed by Phillips Petroleum Company for over 40 years and retired in July 1986. He was a member of Vine Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Pauline Jeffery of Odessa; one son, David Jeffery and his wife, Monica, of Houston; one daughter, Glenna Coudding and her husband, Natheon, of Hobbs, N.M.; two brothers, Carl Jeffery of Cookson, Okla., and Robert Jeffery of Taylor, Mich.; one sister, Rose Mary Taylor of Glenpool, Okla.; three grandchildren, Natrice Ables of Hobbs, N.M., Ross Coudding of Albuquerque, N.M., and Glenn Jeffery of Houston; and two great-grandchildren, Jeffery and Alesia Ables of Hobbs, N.M. The casket will lie in state Sunday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. in the Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 15, 1999, in the Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bobby Phillips officiating. Military graveside services will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens under the direction of Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. Active pallbearers will be Ricky Bowen, Darrell Bowen, David Jeffery, Natheon Coudding, Ross Coudding and Glenn Jeffery. Honorary pallbearers will be all Phillips Petroleum Company retirees.
