Permian Basin Obituaries

   ODESSA  --  Frank Wesley Burney, 87, of Odessa died Wednesday, Dec. 8,
   1999, at his residence.
   
   Services  will  be  at noon today at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel
   with the Rev. Wayne Woody officiating.
   
   He  was born Dec. 18, 1911, in Weatherford. He married Beatrice Reeves
   Feb. 26, 1952, in San Antonio. She preceded him in death in 1997.
   
   Mr.  Burney  moved  to Odessa in 1998 from San Antonio. He worked as a
   police instructor at Kelly Air Force Base in San Antonio for 32 years,
   and  also  was  well  trained  and always on standby to put to use his
   knowledge of riot control, chemical warfare and disaster relief.
   
   He  was  preceded  in  death  by his parents, James and Minnie Burney;
   brothers,  Willie,  Roy,  Carl,  Fred, Howard and Sam Burney; sisters,
   Ruth Russell and Trude Patillo; and a nephew, Bill Lay.
   
   Survivors  include  his  sister, Fay Meek of Odessa; nephews, Bob Meek
   and  Jimmy  Meek;  nieces, Judy Foreman, Ruth Moore, June Drew and Joy
   Rittamin.
   
   Services entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
