December 12, 1999 Permian Basin Obituaries _________________________________________________________________ Ernest H. Briggs MIDLAND -- Ernest H. Briggs was born Nov. 10, 1918, in San Saba, Texas, to Seth Briggs and Mattie George Briggs. He married Frankie Lee on June 12, 1946, in Ranger, Texas. He enjoyed buying and selling antique cars. Mr. Briggs loved his cars and his dog, Nicholas. He was of Baptist faith. He served in the Army as a corporal and was a prisoner of war for 27 months in Germany. Mr. Briggs died in Odessa on Thursday, Dec. 9, 1999. He is survived by his wife, Frankie Briggs of Odessa; his daughters, Audrey Wright of Buffalo Gap, Texas and Jo Ann Little and her husband Jeff, of Odessa; his brother, Alvie Hughes of Hobbs, N.M.; his grandchildren, Julie Cortez of Abilene, Kelly Smircic of Coppell, Texas, Kimberly McQueen of Odessa; his great-grandchild, Tristen Cortez of Abilene; and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Resthaven Memorial Park with Dr. Emmitt Barnard officiating. Arrangements by Ellis Funeral Home . Honorary pallbearers were Bill McCauley, Jeff Little, Guy W. Bates, Jim Hawkins, Dave Phillips and Anthony Smircic. The family would like to extend their thanks to Nurse's Hospice for all the care given to Mr. Briggs.
