December 23, 1999 Permian Basin Obituaries _________________________________________________________________ ODESSA -- Nila Mae Wood was a loving wife, moma, granny and great-granny. She was born in Sonora, Sept. 1, 1934. She went to be with our Lord Monday, Dec. 20, 1999. She was married to Fred L. Wood Sr., Sept. 5, 1950, in Lovington, N.M. She is survived by her brother, Joe Billy Hardin and his wife, Pat, Of Oolagah, Okla.; sons, Fred L. Wood Jr. and wife, Irma, John E. Wood and wife, Jessie; daughters, Anita Loftin and husband, Jerry, Deborah Wood and Judith Stewart, all of Odessa; 21 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, John T. Hardin, in 1975; her sister, Frances Allcorn, in 1987; her mother, Nila Hardin, in 1989, her husband, Fred L. Wood Sr., in 1990; half-brother, Steve Higgins, in 1998; and daughter, Tommi Olson, in 1999. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Mom loved the outdoors and children of all ages. She was an extra-special granny to Elexis and Isaiah. _________________________________________________________________ Jackie Jo Brown LUBBOCK -- Jackie Jo Brown, 80, of Odessa, died Tuesday, Dec. 21, 1999, at Medical Center Hospital. Visitation will be from noon until 9 p.m. Thursday at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Resthaven Memorial Chapel in Lubbock. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park. She was born Oct. 19, 1919, in Canton. She married W.W. Brown Oct. 15, 1935, in Plainview. He preceded her in death Oct. 4, 1982. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Avon Carter. She was a former longtime resident of Lubbock and a member of Asbury Methodist Church in Lubbock. Survivors include her daughter, Jean Brown of Odessa; four grandchildren, Chris Cook, Bryan Cook, Lynn Edmondson and Amy McFerrin; and four great-grandchildren. Local arrangements entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel. _________________________________________________________________ Jim Galloway ODESSA -- Jim Galloway, 78, of Odessa, passed away at the home of his oldest son, Richard, where he has lived for the past four years. Jim, a music lover and aficionado of intellectual games and puzzles, was born on Independence Day 1921 to R.V. and Augusta Galloway in Ranger, Texas. He graduated from Eastland High School in 1938 and attended Ranger Junior College. He served in World War II as a trumpet player in the Army Air Forces Band. After a brief professional music career, he began his lifelong profession as an accountant. He retired in 1994 after 30 years with Stallworth Oil and Gas/Lynx Energy in Midland and in Dallas. Jim is survived by his three sons and their wives, Richard and Teresa of Odessa, Jerry Don and Hope of Austin and Danny and Sherrie of Mesa, Colo.; their mother, Gerry Galloway of Austin; two sisters, a brother and sister-in-law, Kathryn Watzon of Mandeville, La., Marie Varney of San Antonio, and Bob and Ann Galloway of Gladewater; seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and other family and friends. His brother, Jack Galloway, and sister, Margaret Cearley, preceded him in death.
