December 25, 1999 Permian Basin Obituaries _________________________________________________________________ Norma Ballenger ODESSA -- Norma Ballenger, 75, of Odessa, left this world to join her beloved husband Dec. 23, 1999, after a short illness. Her granddaughter, Sabra Young, also preceded her in death. Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 27, 1999, at the Antioch Christian Church with the Rev. Don Fankhauser officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens under the direction of Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. She is survived by her daughters and son-in-laws, Frances and Ben Schulze of Odessa and Sue and J.R. Black of Lovington, N.M.; sister, Ella B. Kerbow of Tyler; five granddaughters; and eight great-grandchildren. _________________________________________________________________ C.H. "Herb" Sullivan ODESSA -- C.H. "Herb" Sullivan, 81, of Odessa, passed away Thursday, Dec. 23, 1999, following a lengthy illness at New Horizons Nursing Center. Mr. Sullivan was born June 9, 1918, in Panhandle, Texas. He married Clara Russell Dec. 30, 1939, in Panhandle and they moved to Odessa in 1974. He is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Clarabele Sullivan; one son, Alex George Sullivan and his wife, Bettye, of Taos, N.M.; one daughter, Donna Washburn and her husband, Tom, of McKinney; a daughter-in-law, Nan Sullivan of Orange Park, Fla. Our husband, father and granddad was loved by six beautiful grandchildren, Shannon, Jennifer, Liz, Jeff, Sally and Jonathan. He was preceded in death by his son, Lt. Col. Charles L. Sullivan, U.S.N., in 1994. Our dad touched the lives of many people with his gentle, loving spirit. Even after the Alzheimer's took his memory, the kindness of his heart brought smiles to many. Memorial services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 26, 1999, at Lutheran Church of the Risen Lord with Rev. James Otterness officiating.
