December 31, 1999 Permian Basin Obituaries _________________________________________________________________ ODESSA -- Hattie Lee Elliott, 62 years of age, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 29, 1999, at Medical Center Hospital. She was born June 18, 1937, in Oklaunion. Her family moved to Eastland where she grew up, she was baptized as a member of Little Flock Baptist Church and was a member of Andrews Faith Holiness Church. Hattie married Bryant James Elliott in 1951 at Eastland. He preceded her in death in 1989. She is survived by her son, Kenneth Green and his fiance, Marcia; daughters, Eddie Mae Washington and her husband, Dan Ray, Joyce Lavern Jones, Debra Fay Wilson and her husband, B.W., Sharon Lewis and her husband, Jerry, Shelia Hernandez and her husband, Martin. Also surviving is her mother, Freddie Mae Crawford and stepfather, Willie Crawford; her brothers, Charles Wright, Roston King Jr., Huey Turner and wife, Glinda, Bobby Turner and wife, Artis, Glynn Turner and wife, Ann; and loving sister, Ruby Walker and husband, Ollie; special aunt, Amelia Govan; special sister-in-law, Hattie Sue Wright and special friend, Louise Oliver; 31 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday at Odessa Funeral Home. Funeral services are set for 11 a.m. Monday Jan. 3, 2000, at Odessa Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. L. Hamrick officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery. Services by Odessa Funeral Home Angeles Memorial Chapel. _________________________________________________________________ Bonita Floyd SNYDER -- Bonita Floyd, 65, of Onalaska and Houston died Wednesday, Dec. 29, 1999, at her residence in Houston. Graveside services will be held at noon Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2000, at Snyder Cemetery. Visitation will be at Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.She was born Feb. 14, 1934, in Polar. Survivors include her daughters, Dawn Beane of Odessa, Tanya and husband Alan Isenburg of Houston and Kelli McCright of Snyder; son, Guy B, Floyd of Houston; brother, Charles and wife Betty Lyons of Onalaska; granddaughters, Jessica, Lacey and Jacey; and great-granddaughter, Asypen. She was preceded in death by her father, Charles Lyons; and her mother, Bonnie Ford. At the families request, donations can be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, 120 Wall St., New York, N.Y., 10005. Cochran Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. _________________________________________________________________ GRANDFALLS -- Dorothy Louise Kuykendall, 77, of Grandfalls died Thursday, Dec. 30, 1999, at Medical Center Hospital. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 1, 2000, at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Bill Cook officiating. Burial will be at Monahans Memorial Cemetery. Arrangements by Harkey Funeral Home. She was born Dec. 23, 1922, in Borger, Okla. She married Phillip Rayburn "Jack" Kuykendall Oct. 21, 1940, in Kilgore. They moved to Grandfalls in 1945 from Gladewater. He preceded her in death March 12, 1982. She was a retired tax assessor for Grandfalls Independent School District. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Grandfalls. She was active with Senior Citizens in Grandfalls and Monahans. Survivors include her son, Billy John "Bill" Kuykendall of Odessa; sisters, Maxine Rowin of Monahans, Charline Cook of Gladewater and Patty Lois Valentine of Port Comfort; three granddaughters; and three great-grandsons. _________________________________________________________________ Ronald M. Stewart MIDLAND -- He was born Jan. 18, 1952, in Odessa, to Morgan and Thelma Jo Brown Stewart and was a lifelong resident of the area. He died Wednesday morning, Dec. 29, 1999, at a local hospital. Mr. Stewart is survived by his wife, Dorothy of Midland; his daughter, Lindsay Stewart Robbins and husband, Todd, of Midland; his son, T. Stewart of Midland; his father, Morgan Stewart of Andrews; his sister, Linda K. Logan of Midland; his grandson, Coby T. Robbins of Midland; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services are set for 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 31, 1999, at Midland Cowboy Church located at Interstate 20 and Farm-to-Market Road 1208. If directions to the church are needed, please call 687-1241. Rev. Monty Price, Rev. Trey Johnson and Pastor Dean Guest will officiate. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home. Pallbearers are Tommy Jack Stewart, Kevin Tredaway, Chad Tredaway, Richard Cole, Tim Spiva and Nat Conner. _________________________________________________________________ ODESSA -- Lera Roper, 81, of Odessa passed away Thursday, Dec. 30, 1999, at her home in Odessa. She was born Aug. 21, 1918, in Jack County. Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 2, 2000, at Mission Dorado Baptist Church with the Rev. Bob Bratcher officiating. Interment will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 3, 2000, at Crestview Memorial Cemetery in Wichita Falls. She married Johnnie Roper June 29, 1938, in Joy. They moved to Odessa in 1961 from Wichita Falls. She was a volunteer with the Hospital Auxiliary in Odessa for over 20 years. She worked many elections in Odessa. She was an active member of Mission Dorado Baptist Church. She loved to make beautiful porcelain dolls and loved to sew and always took good care of her husband Johnnie. Mrs. Roper was preceded in death by her twin sister, Vera Clark; and brother, Leonard Horn. She is survived by her husband, Johnnie Roper of Odessa; son, Eddie Roper of Midland; daughter, Gaydene Hickey of Wichita Falls; four grandchildren, Angela Schlegel, Travis Hickey, Amber Roper and Aaron Roper; two sisters, Jewell Fry of Jacksboro and Eunice Filmer of Nashville, Tenn.; and one brother, Marshall Horn of Jacksboro, Tenn. Honorary pallbearers will be Travis Hickey, Aaron Roper, Benhie Schlegel, Dalton Clark, J.V. Clark and Milton Fry. Memorials may be made to the building fund at Mission Dorado Baptist Church.
