He was born in Birdstown, Tenn. He was a member of the Church of Christ. SURVIVORS: Wife, Vaudie Garrett, of Odessa; sons, Luther Ray Garrett and Frankie Lee Garrett, both of Soldonto, Alaska, and John Warren Garrett, of Odessa; daughter, Lou Ann Allen, of Odessa; sister, Sylvia Hogan, of Buffalo, N.Y.; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Ollie Garvin ODESSA — Ollie "Slim" Lewis Garvin, 89, of Odessa, a retired employee of MappTank, died Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2000, in Mineral Wells. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. today at Sunset Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Roy Smalling officiating. Arrangements by Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors. He was born in Mineral Wells and moved to Odessa in 1938 from Pecos. He was Baptist. SURVIVORS: Brother, Henry Garvin, of Abilene; sisters, Juanita Benton and Myrl Dalton, both of Mineral Wells, and Helen Browning, of Melissa. James Haynes SILVER CITY, N.M. — James E. Haynes, 72, of Tyrone, N.M., died Monday, Jan. 3, 2000, at his residence. No services are scheduled. Arrangements by Bright Funeral Home. He was born in Pioneer. He was a Navy veteran of World War II.
