February 28, 2000 Permian Basin Death Notices Merel Eddleman MCCAMEY — Merel Oris Eddleman, 82, of McCamey, retired owner of West Texas Distributors, died Friday, Feb. 25, 2000, at St. Joseph Regional Hospital. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today at Resthaven Cemetery with the Rev. Paul Evans officiating. Arrangements by Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Homes & Chapel. He was born in Frederick, Okla., and had lived in McCamey since 1937. He was an Army Air Corp veteran of World War II. SURVIVORS: Son, Kirk Eddleman of Bryan; daughters, Karen Dempsey and Connie Roby, both of Brownwood, and Judy Eddleman of Odessa; and nine grandchildren. W.E. Huddleston ODESSA — W.E. "Red" Huddleston, 85, of Odessa, a retired employee of Phillips Petroleum, died Sunday, Feb. 27, 2000, at his residence. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. George Whitington and the Rev. Neal Fleenor officiating. Burial will be at Andrews County Cemetery. He was born in Waco and moved to Odessa in 1963. SURVIVORS: Wife, Selma Huddleston of Odessa; son, Kenneth Huddleston of Big Spring; daughters, Melba Freeman of Odessa and Billie Jo Freeman of Fort Worth; brothers, Cicero Huddleston of Ontario, Calif., and Doc Huddleston of Cypress Grove, Calif.; sisters, Myrtle Annella of Bull Head City, Nev., and Carrie Mae Lewis of Andrews; and six grandchildren. Lila McCauley CANTON — Lila Maxine McCauley, 81, of Bronte died Saturday, Feb. 26, 2000, in Bronte after a short illness. Graveside services were held Sunday, Feb. 27, 2000, at Haven of Memories Funeral Park with Scott Griffin and Wayne Coalson officiating. Arrangements by Eubank Funeral Home Inc. She was born in Baxter Springs, Kan., and moved to Bronte in 1997 from Mount Pleasant. She was a member of the Church of Christ. SURVIVORS: Daughters, Sharon Kay Braswell and Phyllis D. Poe, both of Bronte, and Pamela Ann Morte of Bay City; six grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. Doc Morgan ANDREWS — Doc Carter Morgan, infant son of Tony and Kelleye Morgan of Andrews, died Saturday, Feb. 26, 2000, at Odessa Regional Hospital. Services will be at 10 a.m. today at Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Mike Henson offiiciating. Burial will be at Andrews North Babyland Cemetery. Arrangements by McNett Funeral Home. Terence Portegies ODESSA — Terence Portegies, 29, of Odessa died Friday, Feb. 25, 2000, at Baylor Medical Center in Dallas. Services will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church with the Rev. Kevin Strempke officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Frank W.
