March 20, 2000 Permian Basin Death Notices Bernice Buford Andrews – Bernice Sparks Buford, 91, of Andrews died Saturday, March 18, 2000, at Permian General Hospital. Services will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday, March 21, in the Andrews Church of Christ. Burial will follow in the Kermit Cemetery in Kermit with Minister Brian McGonagil of Kermit officiating. She lived in Wink and Halton City before moving to Andrews in 1997. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ in Halton City. Survivors: Son, Billy Sparks, of Eunice, N.M.; daughters, Peggy Haynes of Andrews, Carolyn Kettle of Rogers, Ariz., Linda Fielding of Fort Worth; sisters, Nina Robb of Fort Worth, and Anita Thompson of Phoenix, Ariz., and eight grandchildren. James Powell Iraan – James Larry Powell, 65, of Odessa and formerly of Iraan died at his home in Odessa. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 21, 2000, at the Restland Cemetery in Iraan with Brother Dan Fontenot officiating. Powell was born on April 8, 1934 in McCamey. He was a chemist. Survivors: Sister, Mary Ann Knight of Odessa; a niece and a nephew. Douglas Schumpert Odessa – Douglas G. Schumpert Sr., 64, of Odessa passed away Sunday, March 19, 2000, in a local hospital. Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 22, in the Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Reed Gibson officiating. Interment will follow in the Resthaven Memorial Park in Midland under the direction of Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. Schumpert was born March 12, 1936 in Georgetown, Texas. He was a service adviser for Sewell Motor Company. Survivors: Sons, Douglas G. Schumpert Jr. of Irving and Dana Schumpert of Odessa; daughters, Darla Schumpert Tilghman and Angel Schumpert Morgan, both of Odessa; brother, Bill Schumpert of San Angelo; sister, Margarie Frizzell of Bangs; and 10 grandchild- ren. Georgia Walker Odessa – Georgia Walker, 76, of Odessa died March 17, 2000, at her residence. Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Immanuel Baptist Church with Dr. Mark Riley officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens under the direction of Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. Walker was born Sept. 3, 1923 in Dublin, Texas. She was a homemaker and a member of Immanuel Baptist Church. Survivors: Brother, Eldy Goodson of Freer; sisters, Clifteen Brumbelow of DeLeon, and Nellie Beazley of Odessa; son, Nicky Cook of Odessa; daughters, Colleen Wooten of Wentzville, Mo., and Liz Hale-Johnson of Odessa; and 14 grandchildren. Lorene White Alpine – Lorene M. White, 74, of Alpine died Saturday, March 18, 2000, at her home. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 21, at the First Presbyterian Church. White was a homemaker and member of First Presbyterian Church. She moved to Alpine in March 1970. Survivors: Husband, Warren W. White, of Alpine; son, Darrell G.
