April 1, 2000 Permian Basin Death Notices Elmer Bliss KERMIT — Elmer Bliss, 76, of Kermit, a retired tool pusher, died Friday, March 31, 2000, at Medical Center Hospital. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Kermit Cemetery with the Rev. Eddie Cotton officiating. Burial will be at Kermit Cemetery. Arrangements by Cooper Funeral Home Chapel. He was born in Erick, Okla., and had been a resident of Kermit for 54 years. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was Baptist. SURVIVORS: Wife, Ruby Bliss of Kermit; sons, Gary Bliss and Jimmy Bliss, both of Kermit; daughter, Kathy Odom of Lakin, Kan.; brother, Chuck Prescott of Kermit; 13 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. Gladys Deary ODESSA — Gladys Marie Deary, 67, of Odessa, a retired housekeeper, died Wednesday, March 29, 2000, at her residence. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Parker Heights Christian Church with the Rev. Paul Weymouth officiating. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery. Arrangements by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. She was born in Reagan and had been a resident of Odessa since 1963. She was a member of Parker Heights Christian Church. SURVIVORS: Daughters, Chestine Jones, Linda Deary and Tammie Deary, all of Odessa; brothers, Chester Poole of Lufkin and Grover Pool of Marlin; sister, Lorraine Poole of Marlin; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Frances Evans ODESSA — Frances Valentine Evans, 96, of Odessa died Wednesday, March 29, 2000, at Seabury Nursing Center. Services will be at 11 a.m. today at First Presbyterian Church with the Revs. Dr. Philip McLarty and Sherry Holloman officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. She was born in Dayton, Ohio, and moved to Odessa in 1927. She was Presbyterian. SURVIVORS: Son, Dick Evans of Odessa; daughters, Martha Francell of Odessa and Mary Frances Van Pelt of Sanger; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. John Hallford FORT WORTH — John Duncan Hallford, 74, of Alvarado, a retired geophysicist, died Thursday, March 30, 2000, in Alvarado. Private services will be held at a later date. Hallford Jr. of Fort Stockton; sisters, Ima Joe McCall of Odessa and Emma Beights of Lubbock. Rozelle Hight LONDON, Texas — Rozelle Hight, 84, of Odessa died March 29, 2000, at her residence. Services were Friday, March 31, 2000, at Northside Baptist Church with the Rev. Clydel Chapman officiating. Burial will be at 3 p.m. today at Little Saline Cemetery. Arrangements by Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors. She was born in Concho County and moved to Odessa in 1982 from Rochelle. She was Baptist. SURVIVORS: Sons, Howard Hight of Odessa and Roy Hight of Tonawanda, N.Y.; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Thomas Levario ODESSA — Thomas G. Lavario, 17 months, of Odessa died Wednesday, March 29, 2000, at Children’s Medical Center in Dallas. Graveside services were held Friday, March 31, 2000, at Rose Hill Cemetery. He was born in San Bernardino, Calif. He was Catholic.
