April 9, 2000 Permian Basin Death Notices Santiago Hernandez Sr. KERMIT — Santiago Hernandez Sr., 70, of Wink, a retired construction worker, died Thursday, April 6, 2000, at Kermit Health Care Center. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. Roberto Alvarado officiating. Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today at 512 S. Spruce St. Burial will be at Kermit Cemetery. Arrangements by Cooper Funeral Chapel. He was born in Pecos and had been a resident of Wink for 46 years. He was Catholic. SURVIVORS: Sons, Santiago Hernandez Jr. of Wink and Ruben Hernandez of Monahans; daughters, Delia Hernandez and Belinda Hernandez, both of Wink, and Elizabeth Hernandez of Midland; brother, Blas Hernandez of Andrews; sisters, Basilia Garcia of Kermit and Placida Tenorio of Odessa; and seven grandchildren. Enrique Hignojos ODESSA — Enrique Hignojos, 52, of Odessa died Thursday, April 6, 2000, at Memorial Hospital and Medical Center in Midland. Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Francis Frey officiating. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery. Arrangements by Odessa Funeral Home Angeles Memorial Chapel. He was born in Barstow. SURVIVORS: Wife, Hilda Hignojos of Odessa; sons, Marc Hignojos and Derek Hignojos, both of Odessa; daughter, Laura Rivas of El Paso; mother, Trine Hignojos of Odessa; brothers, Albert Hignojos and Richard Hignojos, both of Odessa; and three grandchildren. Sarah Piercy ODESSA — Sarah Marruerite Piercy, 78, of Odessa, a retired waitress, died Saturday, April 8, 2000, at Medical Center Hospital. Private services will be held at a later date. Arrangements by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. She was born in Parker County and had been a resident of Odessa since 1952. SURVIVORS: Daughter, Peggy West of Belton; son, Billy Piercy of Odessa; brothers, Deward Whitmore of Belton, Johnny Whitmore and Tommy Whitmore, both of Bakersfield, Calif.; sisters, Beryle Simpkins of Odessa, Dolly Griffith of Quincy, Ill., and Anna Fay Phelps of Bakersfield, Calif.; and two grandchildren. Edna Widner KERMIT — Edna Widner, 71, of Lovington, N.M., a retired meat wrapper, died Friday, April 7, 2000, at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Kermit Cemetery with the Rev. Leon Green officiating. Arrangements by Cooper Funeral Chapel. She was born in Seminole, Okla., and had been a resident of Lovington for 40 years. She was Baptist.
