                                Bettie Duren
   ODESSA — Bettie Jean Duren, 70, of Odessa, retired owner of Busy
        Bee Ceramics, died Sunday, April 30, 2000, at her residence.
      Services will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home
    Chapel with the Rev. Dick Brown officiating. Graveside services will
    be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Duren Cemetery in Mullin. Arrangements by
                        Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
                          She was born in Midland.
    SURVIVORS: Husband, Roddy Duren of Odessa; sons, Terry Lynn Duren of
   Palmdale, Calif., and Roy Dale Duren of Odessa; mother, Opal Rankin of
    Odessa; sister, Ann Spooner of Odessa; five grandchildren; and seven
                            great-grandchildren.
                                      
                               Alice Phillips
    ODESSA — Alice Elizabeth "Aunt Bat" Phillips, 98, of Odessa, a
    seamstress, died Saturday, April 29, 2000, at Seabury Nursing Home.
     Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Rose Hill Cemetery
      with the Rev. Jimmy Braswell officiating. Arrangements by Sunset
                           Memorial Funeral Home.
                 She was born in Comanche. She was Baptist.
   SURVIVOR: Sister, Lela L. Phillips Barrington Shellabarger of Odessa.
                                      
                                Carl Maddoux
    ODESSA — Carl Victor Maddoux, 82, of Odessa, a retired teacher,
                  died Sunday, April 30, 2000, in Odessa.
      Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home
   Chapel with the Rev. Bill Heard officiating. Burial will be at Sunset
         Memorial Gardens. Services by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
         He was born in Harris County and moved to Odessa in 1951.
   SURVIVORS: Daughters, Lana "Sam" Narey of Lubbock and Carla L. Maddoux
      of Odessa; and two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
                                      
                              Johnnie Walraven
     ODESSA — Johnnie Lee Walraven, 47, of Odessa, a foreman, died
               Saturday, April 29, 2000, at a local hospital.
    Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home
   Chapel with Rev. Clydell Chapman officiating. Burial will be at Sunset
      Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
     He was born in Ozona and moved to Odessa in 1963. He was Baptist.
     SURVIVORS: Daughters, Carrie Ann Walraven, Barbara Jean LaJoie of
      Augusta, Maine, and Kasey Lynn Walraven of Bridgeport; parents,
      Mildred and J.L. Walraven of Odessa; brother, Donnie Walraven of
    Odessa; sisters, Terrie Elliott of Odessa, Sherrie Reeves of Odessa
              and Irma Jean Steding of Tyler; one grandchild.
                                      
                              Charlie Ward Jr.
    ODESSA — Charlie R. Ward Jr., 74, of Odessa, a retired employee
    of Conoco, died Friday, April 28, 2000, at Medical Center Hospital.
   Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. today at Sunset Memorial Gardens
   with the Rev. Dr. Ernest Easley officiating. Arrangements by Frank W.
                         Wilson Funeral Directors.
   He was born in Midland County. He was a Navy veteran of World War II.
                              He was Baptist.
       SURVIVORS: Wife, Joan Ward of Odessa: sons, George Roy Ward of
     Longview and Alan Ward of Cedar Park; daughter, Suzy Hickerson of
   Odessa; sister, Jerry Lynn Collins of Irving; brother, John B. Ward of
           Snook; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
