                               Arbie Johnson
    MARFA — Arbie Johnson, 93, of Midland, a retired teacher, died
             Sunday, April 30, 2000, at a Midland nursing home.
   Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at First Christian Church with
   the Rev. Duncan Parish officiating. Burial will be at Marfa Cemetery.
                   Arrangements by Memorial Funeral Home.
   She was born in Salado and was a longtime resident of Marfa. She was a
                     member of First Christian Church.
   SURVIVORS: Daughters, Sue Wray of Midland and Carol May of Georgetown;
    son, Warren Johnson of Escondido, Calif.; nine grandchildren; and 13
                            great-grandchildren.
                                      
                               Alice Phillips
    ODESSA — Alice Elizabeth "Aunt Bat" Phillips, 98, of Odessa, a
    seamstress, died Saturday, April 29, 2000, at Seabury Nursing Home.
   Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today at Rose Hill Cemetery with
     the Rev. Jimmy Braswell officiating. Arrangements by Hubbard-Kelly
                               Funeral Home.
                 She was born in Comanche. She was Baptist.
   SURVIVOR: Sister, Lela L. Phillips Barrington Shellabarger of Odessa.

   ODESSA — A.L. Houston, 95, of Odessa died Monday, May 1, 2000, at
                               his residence.
        Services are pending with Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.
