     LUBBOCK — Earl B. Oden, 88, of Midland, a retired employee of
    Shell Oil Co., died Saturday, May 13, 2000, at Memorial Hospital and
                              Medical Center.
                                      
    Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Calvary Baptist Church with the
    Rev. Dr. Chris Sutton officiating. Burial will be at City of Lubbock
          Cemetery. Arrangements by Franklin-Bartley Funeral Home.
                                      
    He was born in Haleyville, Ala. He was an Army veteran of World War
                            II. He was Baptist.
                                      
   SURVIVORS: Wife, Dorothy Oden of Midland; daughter, Sharron Kay Fires
                       of Kermit; and one grandchild.
                                      
                                Jere McBride
                                      
     ALPINE — Jere Jean McBride, 59, of Alpine, a retired teacher,
                died Sunday, May 14, 2000, at her residence.
                                      
     Graveside services will be at 9 a.m. today at Elm Grove Cemetery.
                   Arrangements by Geeslin Funeral Home.
                                      
                         She was born in Victoria.
                                      
     SURVIVORS: Husband, Roy McBride of Alpine; sons, Rocky McBride and
     Rowdy McBride, both of Alpine; daughter, Randy McBride of Houston;
   mother, Della Taylor of San Antonio; brothers, John Johnson of Alabama
    and Mike Johnson of Georgia; sister, Pat Livingston of San Antonio;
                          and three grandchildren.
                                      
                               Edith Phillips
                                      
   KERMIT — Edith Phillips, 70, of Kermit, a homemaker, died Sunday,
                 May 14, 2000, at Medical Center Hospital.
                                      
     Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today at Kermit Cemetery with
     Russ Smith Sr. officiating. Arrangements by Cooper Funeral Chapel.
                                      
   She was born in Chandler, Okla., and had been a resident of Kermit for
                                 41 years.
                                      
   SURVIVORS: Son, John W. Phillips of Kermit; daughters, Melody Salmons
      of Bandera and Vicky Fason of Kermit; sisters, Lee Cadenhead of
       Stephenville, Millie Wert of Eufaula, Okla., and Ruth Ryan of
   Davenport, Okla.; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
