      The following is a list of injury accidents and felony criminal
   activities reported to the police. Information is from local sheriffs
      or police reports. Numbered addresses of crime victims' private
   residences and locations where crimes occur are rounded to the nearest
                               hundred block.
                                      
                             Injury to a child
    A 37-year-old Odessa man was in the Ector County jail Saturday on a
                        charge of injury to a child.
      Bond for Walter Ray Zolyn, 2011 W. 10th St., was set at $2,500.
                    Possession of a controlled substance
   A 30-year-old Austin woman was in the Ector County jail Saturday on a
              charge of possession of a controlled substance.
               Bond for Liana Jean Gaskin was set at $5,000.
                                   Theft
     7-Eleven, 1000 N. Grant Ave., reported someone printed out several
      money orders totalling $13,887 and took them without permission
       between Sept. 2 and Tuesday. Employees at the store apparently
   attempted to hide the fact the money orders had been taken, according
                             to police reports.
                         Driving while intoxicated
    A 38-year-old Odessa man was released Saturday from the Ector County
        jail after posting bond on a felony charge of driving while
      intoxicated and a misdemeanor charge of driving with a suspended
   license. Bond for Raymundo Z. Aviles, 1846 Westcliff Road, was set at
                                  $6,000.
                                      
                                 Seth Baker
      HOBBS, N.M. Seth Baker Jr., 96, of Andrews, a retired cotton gin
               worker, died Friday, Nov. 3, 2000, in Odessa.
   Graveside services will be at noon Tuesday at Prairie Haven Cemetery.
                    Arrangements by McNett Funeral Home.
                        He was born in Carter, Okla.
    SURVIVORS: Son, Jerry Baker of Andrews; daughters, Modell Willis of
     Midland, Wanda Lewis of Utopia, Nell Smith of Bristol, Tenn., and
                        Barbara Blissingame of Vega.
                                Sue Merchant
   HASKELL Sue Merchant, 68, of Odessa, a homemaker, died Friday, nov. 3,
                     2000, at Medical Center Hospital.
    Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Willow Cemetery with
      the Rev. Don Palmer officiating. Arrangements by HoldenMcCauley
                             Funeral Directors.
     She was born in Erath County and was a 20-year resident of Odessa.
    SURVIVORS: Husband, H.C. Cleo Merchant of Odessa; son, Dennis Wayne
     Merchant of Amarillo; daughter, Selena Paulette Wood of Lovington,
      N.M.; brothers, A.J. Tanner and W.A. Tanner, both of Ranger, and
        Mickey Baggett of Graford; sister, Joy Ilonea of Ranger; six
                grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
                                Lula Samples
     PECOS Lula Mae Samples, 92, of Pecos died Friday, Nov. 3, 2000, at
                            Pecos Nursing Home.
   Services will be at 3 p.m. today at Pecos Funeral Home Chapel with the
   Revs. Bruce Abbott and Joe Terry officiating. Burial will be Wednesday
                   at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Fort Worth.
                She was born in Anderson. She was Methodist.
    SURVIVORS: Daughter, Daisy Roquemore of Pecos; sister, Billie Sadler
       of Pecos; three grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
                               Doris Trantham
     ODESSA Doris Trantham, 68, of Odessa died Friday, Nov. 3, 2000, at
                          Medical Center Hospital.
       Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Sunset Memorial
                                  Gardens.
                      She was born in Seminole, Okla.
      SURVIVORS: William Jackson Trantham of Odessa, David Trantham of
    Gatesville; daughters, Frances Katherine Hill of Corpus Christi, Lee
    Hamrick and Angela Gayle Morris, both of Lovelady, Debra Sue Pate of
   Odessa; brothers, Robert Edgar Thomas Jr. of Clairemore, Okla., Emmitt
    Thomas of Amarillo and Kenneth Eugene Thomas of Tulsa, Okla.; sister
    Evelyn Adams of Coleman; 14 grandchildren; and eight great-children.
                             Guadalupe Morales
    ODESSA Guadalupe Morales, 54, of Odessa died Saturday, Nov. 4, 2000,
                  at Thomason General Hospital in El Paso.
              Services are pending with Martinez Funeral Home.
