She was born Sept. 25, 1914, in Oklahoma Territory, Okla. Mrs. Brown married Thomas D. Brown, May 2, 1934, in Graham. They moved to Odessa from Rockport in 1999. She was an accomplished doll and craft maker and collected antiques. She loved to travel, play poker and dance. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas D. Brown, Dec. 3, 1999; and her son, Bobby Brown Dec. 2, 1999. She is survived by grandchildren, Tammy Hester and husband, George of Odessa, Ray Hollingsworth and wife, Connie of Farmington, N.M., and Shannon Teague and husband, John of Goldsmith; great-grandchildren, Ski and Shawn Herndon, Stephanie and Stormey Laws, Dianna, Justin and Jason Hollingsworth, Dustin, Thomas and Devin Teague. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 3, 2000, at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Rev. Robert Scoffeld officiating. Arrangements are by Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Texas and Clements Church of Christ with Billy Lemon officiating. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery. Arrangements by Martinez Funeral Home. Public visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m. to noon Monday at Martinez Funeral Home Chapel. She was born March 5, 1919, in Midway, and has been a resident of Odessa for 52 years. She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her parents, Pete Childress and Bessie Ray. Survivors include her husband, Edward Comer of Phoenix, Ariz.; sons, Eddie Nealy, Jim E. Comer and John W. Comer, all of Odessa, and Clarence Redic of Midland; daughters, Pauline Lee of Fort Worth, Loretta Anderson of Kansas City, Kan., and Bessie Mayse of Odessa; 16 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. _________________________________________________________________ Top | Obituaries Index | Home _________________________________________________________________ Mary Wright Fleetwood ODESSA — Mary Wright Fleetwood was born Feb. 27, 1911, in Erath County to Gregory and Ellen Knutson Kincheloe. She passed away Dec. 31, 1999, at the Comanche Trail Nursing Home in Big Spring. She was preceded in death by her husbands, John Wright in 1969 and El Jerry Fleetwood in I985; her sons, Jack and Johnny Wright; and her daughter, Alene Duvall. Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 3, 2000, at the Sunset Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Mary and her husband farmed in Gustine, and she raised her children there. She moved to Odessa in 1960 and then to Big Spring in 1986. She enjoyed sewing and quilting and she was a Baptist. Survivors include her son, Jimmy Wright of Garland; her daughters, Maxine Plummer of Paris, Texas, Martha Carlisle of Hamilton, Joyce Weems of Odessa, Jessie Richardson of DeLeon, Shirley Hodges of Nocona, Jackie Osburn of Big Spring and Delores Steelman of Garland; 31 grandchildren and many great and great-great-grandchildren. Services are under the direction of Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. _________________________________________________________________ Top | Obituaries Index | Home _________________________________________________________________ phillips010299.jpg (10274 bytes) Marjorie Hellen Cook Phillips ODESSA — Marjorie Hellen Cook was born Nov. 9, 1922, in Mineral Wells, Texas, the only child of Richard and Ida Robinson Cook. She died in Odessa during the Christmas holidays. Marjorie was raised in Tulsa, Okla., graduated from Tulsa High School in 1940, and attended business college there. She married Glen Erickson, a World War II pilot from Kansas, in 1943. They had one son. Their marriage tragically ended in 1945, with Glen’s death in an airplane accident. She married Wilbur Phillips, an engineer, in 1949. They lived in various cities in Texas and New Mexico. While living in Hobbs, N.M., Marjorie studied art at New Mexico Junior College. Wilbur preceded her in death in 1994. Marjorie was a very gifted artist. She had a unique ability to combine nature with everything that surrounded her. The youthful spirit and sense of humor she retained throughout her life will endear her forever to her children and grandchildren. She will be greatly missed, and not forgotten. She is survived by her son, Glen E. Erickson Jr. of Gladewater; daughter, Susan Daggett DeWoody of Odessa; granddaughters, Michalea and Lara Daggett of Odessa, Cary Erickson Pierce of Longview and Erica Williams of Canyon; and one great-grandson, Nicolas Pierce. She is also survived by Mikey, Bear and Muffy, her beloved feline companions. Services were held at Sunset Memorial Gardens under the direction of Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
