January 9, 2000 Permian Basin Obituaries Odessa — Annie Laura Barber, 82, of Odessa passed away Jan. 1, 2000, at her home in Odessa, Texas. She was born June 22, 1917, in Baird. Services were 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2000, at Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors Chapel. Interment was at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Lynn Money will officiate. Mrs. Barber graduated from Midland High School in 1933. She married T.J. Barber in 1934, in Midland, and they moved to Odessa in 1937. She was an active member of Sherwood Church of Christ. She liked to read; she enjoyed music and loved to play the piano. Her family was her life; her primary goal was to be a good mother and grandmother, and she was. Mrs. Barber loved to sit on her front porch and say good-bye to the day. She was preceded in death by her husband, T.J. Barber, in 1984, and son, Zearal Barber, in 1977. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia, and son-in-law, W.L. Sibley, of Odessa; sisters, Lottie Harvey, of Odessa and Madeline and her husband, Robert Herbert, of Midland; grandchildren, Diann and Lans Barber, of Arlington, Leslie Barber, of Havasu City, Ariz., Lane Barber of Austin, Jonn and Debbie Sibley, of Odessa, Tom and Paige Fulton of Gardendale; six great-grandchildren; and a nephew, Kenneth Herbert and his wife, Sue, of Midland. (www.wilsonfuneral.com) _________________________________________________________________ Raymond "Chapo" DeVolin Odessa — Raymond DeVolin, 75, passed away Friday, Jan. 7, 2000, at Medical Center Hospital. Memorial services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday at the Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Jimmy Braswell officiating. Mr. DeVolin was born Feb. 22, 1924, in El Paso. While living on Earth, this Christian man was a wonderful husband, devoted father and loving grandfather. We, his family, will miss him dearly and will cherish the precious memories that he left us. We shared him on Earth and now are at peace knowing he will be with our Lord Jesus Christ. He was a member of First Christian Church, a resident of Odessa for the past twelve years and an avid golfer at the Ratliff Ranch Golf Links. Survivors include his wife, Betty Byrd DeVolin, of Odessa; his daughters, Deborah DeVolin, of Houston and Dinah DeVolin, of Odessa; grandchildren, Josh, Kelli and Ashley; and his great-grandchild, Morgan. _________________________________________________________________ Corda Lee Cearly Odessa — Corda Lee Cearly, 70, passed away Friday, Jan. 7, 2000, at her residence in Odessa. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday at Sunset Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Warren Canady officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. She was born Aug. 8, 1929, in Bristow, Okla. She married Leland W. Cearly on March 18, 1950, in Sapulpa, Okla. Mrs. Cearly moved to West Texas from Bristow, Okla. in 1956. She was a homemaker and a member of the Medical Center Auxilliary. Survivors include: Sons, John Wesley Cearly of Austin and Roy Gene Cearly of Odessa; daughters, Karen Lee Lege of Port Orchard, Wash., and Sharen Kay Meeks of Austin; sister, Fearn Payne of Tulsa, Okla.; and three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leland W. Cearly, in 1982. Memorials can be made to Home Hospice of Odessa. Services entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. _________________________________________________________________ Odessa — William L. Wagnon, 91, of Odessa, passed away Thursday, Jan. 6, 2000, at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa. He was born Dec. 14, 1908, in Sidney to John and Sara Wagnon. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 8, 2000, at the First Church of the Nazarene with the Rev. Terry Pierce officiating. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Mr. Wagnon married Reba Dee Lancaster Nov. 22, 1930, in Marietta, Okla. They moved to Odessa in 1950 from May. Mr. Wagnon retired from the Texas Highway Department Dec. 14, 1973. He loved the outdoors, working in the garden and making things grow. He attended Tarleton State University. Mr. Wagnon was preceded in death by his wife, Reba Wagnon, Sept. 15, 1999. He is survived by his daughter and her husband, Joan and Coy Coe of McCamey; sons and their wives, Billy and Lynell Wagnon of Odessa, and Eddy and Gloria Wagnon of Sunnyvale, Calif.; grandchildren and their spouses, Rick and Sandy Coe, Alan and Kim Coe, Cyndi and Pat Cole and Cheri and Joel Dewbre; great-grandchildren, Seth Coe, Sara Coe, Garrett Dewbre and Rebecca Coe; brother, Jack Wagnon of Odessa; sisters, Marie Works of Dallas and Geneva Prater of Brownwood.
