January 16, 2000 Permian Basin Obituaries Brenda Jones ODESSA — Brenda Jones, 44, of Odessa died Sunday, Jan. 9, 2000, at Medical Center Hospital. She was born July 27, 1955, in Odessa. Mrs. Jones was a lifetime resident of Odessa and a homemaker. She was a 1974 graduate of Odessa High School and was a Baptist. She was preceded in death by her mother, Bobble L. Wickliffe, in 1991. Survivors include her daughter, Londy Jones of Odessa; sons, Phillip Jones of Denver, Colo., and Clifton Jones of Odessa; and grandchildren, Bobbie Vick, Destiny Joann and Zackery Cornwell. She is also survived by her sister, Teresa Sullivan of Odessa; and father, Bennie L. Wickliffe; and Wanda Reedy of Odessa. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2000, in the chapel of Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors with the Rev. Terry Wright officiating. (www.wilsonfuneral.com) _________________________________________________________________ ODESSA — Tom Moore, 72, of Odessa passed away Jan. 9, 2000, in a Big Spring hospital. Mr. Moore was born July 8, 1927, in San Saba. He had been a longtime resident of Odessa and worked for Energas, formerly Pioneer Natural Gas, for 32 years. He was a member of Second Baptist Church. He married Syble Woods Jan. 22, 1949, in Goldthwaite. He is survived by his wife, Syble Moore of Odessa; three sons, Tom Moore and his wife, Gail, Clay Moore and his wife, Sara, and Gary Moore and his wife, Lacricia, all of Odessa; three sisters, Myrtle Handley of Modesto, Calif., Dorothy Jones of San Saba and Mildred Rankin of Aledo: four grandchildren, Tom Moore and his wife Renee, Missy Moore, Melanie Moore and Jeremy Moore; three great-grandchildren, Kandice, Beth Ann and Dusty Warren. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2000, in the Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bruce Troy officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens under the direction of Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. _________________________________________________________________ ODESSA — Ruth Graham White, 96, of Odessa died Sunday, Jan. 9, 2000, at her residence. She was born April 29, 1903, in Lynn County. She was a 1923 graduate of the University of Texas in Austin and member of the First United Methodist Church in Ozona. She married William Evart White, June 24, 1925, in Ozona and together they owned the Ozona Stockman until 1974. Before moving to Odessa in 1994, she had been an avid bridge player, winning many master points. She was a member of the Friday Bridge Club, American Contract Bridge League, charter member of the Ozona Country Club Bridge Club and founded the Duplicate Bridge Club in Ozona. She also organized and served with the Ozona Garden Club in 1956, was a charter member of the Ozona Women’s Club, and served on the hospital board in the 1960s. She was preceded in death by her husband, Evart in 1986; and daughter, Barbara Moughon in 1978. Survivors include her daughter, Judy Ogilvy and her husband, Buck of Odessa; son-in-law, Sid Moughon and wife, Peggy of Gilmer; grandchildren, Mike and Sarah Ogilvy of Odessa, Judy and Mike Withrow of Odessa, Tim and Cynthia Ogilvy of Odessa, Dan and Jane Moughon of Fort Worth, Wesley Moughon of Tulsa, Dinah and Danny Wade of Boeme. She is also survived by 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and sister, Rachel Childress of San Angelo. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2000, at the First United Methodist Church in Ozona with the Rev. Nancy Mossman officiating. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery. (www. wilsonfuneral.com) _________________________________________________________________ David "Carlos" Vigil DENVER — David "Carlos" Vigil, born to Rolando and Refugia, April 29, 1933, in Denver, Colo., and passed away Thursday, Jan. 6, 2000. Graveside services will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2000, at Fort Logan in Shelter D. He served in the Navy and served in the Korean War. He was retired from Skaggs Albertson after 25 years of service. He was member of the VFW Post #9332 and the American Legion Post 22. He married Sarah Marie Perry Oct. 7, 1955, who preceded him in death March 24, 1990. He is survived by his children, James "Janice" K. Perry and wife Janice, Shaldene "John" A. Moore and husband John, Samuel A. Kekumano and wife Gloria, Ellamaire Kalawe and husband Henry; grandchildren, James Avalos, Sarah Kalawe, Kisha Hamilton, Barbara A. Moore, David Kalawe II, and Tiffany Kekumano; great-grandchildren, Timothy, Kieuana and Amanda; brothers, Vincent Vigil and wife Agnus, James P. Vigil and wife Stella, Ernesto Vigil; sisters,Viola and husband Lynn Beasley, Carol Sandoval and husband Richard and several nieces and nephews. We also want to thank Castle Gardens Nursing home for the love and care they gave him this last year. _________________________________________________________________ Patricia Joan Waters HOUSTON — Patricia Joan Waters was born in Crosby, N.D., June 6, 1953, the oldest of four children. She moved to Texas at age five, where she was active in 4H and Texas Youth Rodeo Association. Pat graduated from Tuloso Midway High School in Corpus Christi in May 1971. She graduated from Texas A&M University in Kingville with a bachelor of business administration with a major in accounting. She was a member of the Houston Tennis Association for 13 years and served on the board for several years. Patty especially enjoyed gardening, weaving and spending time with her nephew and nieces, Brian, Kristin, Haily and Hanna. Patty was preceded in death by her sister, Judith Marie Waters; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Kroshus of Crosby, N.D.; paternal grandfather, W.H. Waters of Bronte. She is survived by her husband, John R. TankersIey; parents, Homer and Helen Waters of Corpus Christi; paternal grandmother, Polly T. Waters; sister, Ellen Knesek of Humble; brother, Ronnie Waters of Creede, Colo.; uncle, Joe Waters of Odessa; and nieces and nephews. Watson, 73, of Odessa passed away Saturday, Jan. 8, 2000, in a local hospital. Mr. Watson was born Oct. 22, 1926, in Tanglewood, Texas. He married Frances Butler Oct. 15, 1949, in Bartlett, Texas. He went to work for Halliburton Services in 1948 and retired as divisional manager in 1991. During those years he was transfered to McCamey, Iraan, Big Lake, Rankin, Odessa, Andrews, Wichita, Kan., and Oklahoma City. He returned to Odessa in October 1999 from Fort Worth. Mr. Watson was a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge and a Methodist. He will be remembered as a friend to the working man and a kind, gentle person. He was preceded in death by his father, Alva Odes Watson in 1981. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Frances Marie Butler Watson of Odessa: one son, Homer O. Watson III of Odessa; one daughter, Margaret Watson Slagle of Andrews; his mother, Thelma Kyle Watson of Lexington; sisters, Mona Haack of San Antonio, Myrtie Alice Fritcher and Elaine Quinney, both of Lexington; three grandchildren, Jordan Slagle of Abilene, Kyle Watson of Odessa and Aaron Watson of Fort Benning, Ga.
