January 16, 2000 Permian Basin Obituaries ODESSA — Marilyn White Bailey, 64, of Odessa, died January 15, 2000 at Odessa Regional Hospital. Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Hubbard-Kelly Chapel with the Rev. Clydell Chapman officiating. Burial will follow at 4:30 p.m. in Snyder Cemetery. Mrs. Bailey was born in Big Spring on October 27, 1935. She came to Odessa in 1942 from Big Spring. She worked for First National Bank for 15 years and also worked for Texas Bank for 5 years. She was a Baptist. Survivors include her sons, Terry Bailey and Brian Bailey, both of Odessa; two brothers Donald White and James White, both of Odessa; and 3 grandchildren. Services entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. _________________________________________________________________ ODESSA — Jose Flores, 44, of Odessa died Friday, January 14, 2000 at the New Horizon Nursing Home. Rosary will be said 7 p.m. Monday at Martinez Funeral Home. Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Fidelo Lugo officiating. Interment will follow at Rosehill Cemetery. Arrangements by Martinez Funeral Home. Visitation will be 12 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday, 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday and 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Tuesday at Martinez Funeral Home. Mr. Flores was born July 1, 1955 in Odessa to Tomasita Galindo and Charles Flores who are both deceased. He was a body painter at Manuel’s Body Shop. Survivors include his son, Martin Gutierrez of Odessa; three daughters, Mary Jo Garza of Odessa, Tammie Jo Estella of Odessa, Beatrice Martinez of Midland; four brothers, Carlos Flores of Abilene, Manuel Flores of Odessa, Ramon Flores of Odessa, Nicolas Flores of Odessa; four sisters, Rosa Quiroz of Edinburg, Lupe Barrera of Atlanta, Ga., Joann Flores of Odessa, Sandy Flores of Odessa; and 9 grandchildren. _________________________________________________________________ Belle Higgs Million Belle Higgs Million was born March 15, 1906, in Gilmer, Texas, to Charlie and Lula Reynolds. She passed away January 15, 2000, at Deerings Nursing Home. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin W. Higgs in 1969; a son, Earl E. Higgs in 1994; a daughter, Carmela Palmer in 1974; and a grandson, Earl E. Higgs Jr. in 1994. Graveside services are set for 2 p.m. Monday, January 17, 2000, at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Officiating will be Rev. Robert Bratcher of Mission Dorado Baptist Church. Survivors include her grandson, Richard Palmer and wife, Gail, of Eastland; granddaughters, Rosalita Vessels and husband, Volley, of Odessa; Sue Elliot and husband, Bruce, of Gardendale; Brenda Gatlin and husband, Terry, of Marina, Ariz.; and Glenna Anderson of Odessa; brother, Oscar Reynolds and wife, Vera, of Shawnee, Okla.; 21 great-grandchildren, and 38 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Services are under the direction of Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. _________________________________________________________________ Darrell Rhodes Darrell Rhodes was born June 15, 1956, in Pampa, Texas, to Jack and Georgia (Gilbert) Rhodes. He was reared and educated in Snyder and Monahans, Texas. Darrell was a self-employed independent catastrophe insurance adjuster and traveled from coast to coast as required. He was a member of the National Association of Catastrophe Adjusters (NACA) and Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA). He married Penny Romell in Fort Worth, Texas on September 9, 1999. Mr. Rhodes died at their home Thursday, January 13, 2000. Mr. Rhodes is survived by his wife, Penny; his parents, Jack and Georgia Rhodes; his brother, Richard Rhodes; his sister, Kathy Barnes; his nieces and nephews, Christi, Laura, Taylor and Jarrod Barnes; Allison and Jon Rhodes; Ashley, Jacob, Aaron, Dylan, Chase and Krystin Romell; Ben, Laura Kathryn, Luke and Sam Lancaster; Tyler and Tanna Anderson; and a lifetime’s accumulation of friends. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, January 15, at Ellis Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Monday, January 17, 2000, in Ellis Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor E. H. "Sonny" Conaster officiating. Graveside services will be 4 p.m. Monday in Monahans Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home. Pallbearers are David Garderet, Joe D. Box 5195, Abilene, TX 79608-5195. _________________________________________________________________ ODESSA — Jack Vanderburg was born Jan. 15, 1917, in Cooper. He passed away Jan. 13, 2000, at the Parks Methodist Retirement Center. Masonic graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 15, 2000, at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Dr. Mark Riley of Immanuel Baptist Church officiating. Mr. Vanderburg came to Odessa after serving in the Army during World War II. He married Robbie Jo Bush Sept. 14, 1946. He was a carpenter and a member of the Masonic Lodge # 955 and also a member of Immanuel Baptist Church. Jack left many good memories and will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Survivors include his wife, Robbie Jo Vanderburg of 0dessa; his sons, Danny and his wife, Mary, and Keith Vanderburg, all of Odessa; daughters, Ann Davis and her husband, Jerry, and Jan Munn and her husband, Pat, of Odessa; brother, Harry Vanderburg of Odessa; sisters, Hattie Wilson and Charlene Cooper, both of Odessa, and Retha Coleman of Gun Barrel City; nine grandchildren, Lance, Jerrod and Jeremy Davis, Chad Bell, James Munn, Jenny Munn, Blaine, Nathan and Misty Vanderburg; two step-grandchildren, Laura Speegle and Tom Munn; five great-grandchildren; and two step great-grandchildren.
