January 20, 2000 Permian Basin Obituaries ODESSA — Clarence "Slim" Murray of Odessa died Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2000, at Medical Center Hospital. He was born July 29, 1917, in Ferris. Mr. Murray married Hazel Burns Nov. 30, 1940, in Cherokee County. They moved to Odessa in 1945 from Jacksonville. He was a veteran of World War II and was awarded two Bronze Stars. He was retired from FWA Drilling as a roughneck and loved to play dominoes. He was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Murray, July 30, 1999. He is survived by sons and their wives, David and Pam Murray and Gary and Patsy Murray; grandchildren, who were the apple of his eye, Melissa Murray and Bryan Murray; nephews and their wives, Charlie and Ausie Burns, and Buddy and Sharon Burns; nieces, Linda Tune, Sandy Robison, Pat Bishop and Janet Burch; and grandnieces, Amanda Burns and Sarah Burns. Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 21, 2000, at Sunset Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Griffin Jones officiating. _________________________________________________________________ Jo Ford ODESSA — Jo A. Ford, 63, of Odessa died Sunday, Jan. 16, 2000, at Medical Center Hospital. Services were held Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2000, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel. She was born Oct. 21, 1936, in East St. Louis, Ill. She married Robert Ford June 24, 1956, at Scott Air Force Base, Ill. Mrs. Ford moved to Odessa in 1983. She was administrative director of the Permian Basin Emergency Veterinary Clinic for the past 17 years. She was assistant tournament director for the 1999 Permian Basin Nike Open and had been actively involved with the Nike Open since its beginning. She was an active member of the Ladies Association at The Club at Mission Dorado. She was an avid golfer. She loved her friends and family and never met a stranger. Survivors include her husband, Robert Ford of Odessa; daughters, Rhonda Tourville of Collinsville, Ill., Terri Ford-Brown of Odessa, Paula Klucker of Bellville, Ill., Alice Rambo of Gillette, Wyo., and Kathy Sullivan of Springfield, Ill.; and nine grandchildren.
