"Red" Grant, 75, of Odessa died Monday, Feb. 14, 2000, at Medical Center Hospital. Services will be at 4 p.m. Thursday at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Sam Jordan officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. He was born July 2, 1924 in Claude. He married Eunice Vroman Sept. 19, 1943, in Amarillo. Mr. Grant moved to Odessa in 1953 from Amarillo. He owned Grant Carpet Supplies since 1953. He was an Air Force veteran and a Baptist. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was devoted to his family. He was a member of the American Legion and the Eagles Lodge. Survivors include his wife, Eunice Grant of Odessa; son, Donald Leon Grant of Odessa; daughters, Nancy Joy Hubbard of Odessa and Neita Janell Grant of San Angelo; brothers, Sterling Grant of Roswell, N.M., and Melvin Grant of Amarillo; sister, Jean Anderson of Amarillo; four grandchildren, Sammy Hubbard, John Hubbard, Gene Grant and Lynan Grant Travis; and 10 great-grandchildren. Services entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel. _________________________________________________________________ Macie Pauline Hogle Adams MONAHANS — Macie Pauline Hogle Adams left this world Monday, Feb. 14, 2000, at Avalon Place. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Southside Baptist Church in Monahans with interment in the Monahans Cemetery. Harkey Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements. Macie was born March 16, 1907, in Appleton, Ark., the daughter of Frances and Freeman N. Hogle. She spent her school years in Electra and was married there to Joe Stewart Adams on May 10, 1923. Their first home was in Burkburnett. In 1936, they moved to Wickett where her husband was an engineer for Gulf Oil Corp. The rest of her years were spent in Wickett and Monahans. Wherever she went, she taught Sunday school classes in the Baptist churches. She was Worthy Matron of Monahans Eastern Star Chapter No. 562 in 1980 to 1981, and president of the Past Matrons Club. Macie was always interested in all church activities and educational activities, and supported the public schools. Macie worked for eleven years at Pyote Air Force Base during World War Il. In fact, she was there when it closed down. She loved people, and her family was her special love and interest in life. She made friends easily and held them in high esteem. She had a special talent for helping people through troubled times. Her husband, Joe S. Adams, preceded her in death. She is survived by a daughter, Mary Jo Baker and husband, J.L., of Odessa and DeVille, La.; sister, Lois Warren of Azle; sister-in-law, Fairy Fay Hogle of Wichita Falls; grandson, Richard Russell and wife, Zoila, of Sherman; granddaughter, Gail Barry and Troy Shepherd of Bowling Green, Ohio; grandson, Jeff Russell and Rhonda Parsons of Odessa; great-grandson, Douglas; great-granddaughters, Amelia and Gabriela; and great-great-granddaughter, Macie Cherilyn. _________________________________________________________________ William "Bobb" Gregory ODESSA — William "Bobb" Gregory, 39, of Irving died Monday, Feb. 14, 2000, at Medical Center Hospital. Memorial services will be at noon Thursday at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel. He was born Nov. 1, 1960, in Odessa. Mr. Gregory was a former resident of Odessa. He worked in the computer field. Survivors include his life partner, Raymond A. Stevens of Irving; parents, William A. and Wanda Gregory of Odessa; brother, Ted Allen Gregory of Sand Springs, Okla.; sister, K. Harwell, 77, of Odessa died Monday, Feb. 14, 2000 at Memorial Hospital and Medical Center in Midland. He was born May 16, 1922, in Corsicana. He married Gladys Opal Atkeisson in March 1947 in Corsicana. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2000, at Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors Chapel with Joe Cross officiating. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. He moved to Odessa in 1960 from Corsicana. He was a member of Tanglewood Church of Christ. He loved to travel and camp. He loved his grandchildren and family. He is preceded in death by brothers, Clarence Harwell, Robert Harwell and McCuin Harwell; sisters, Leuella Vance and Margie Morrisett. Pallbearers will be: Mark Ruckman, David Hardee, Mark Hardee, Nathan Hankins, Jimmy Taylor, Brent Taylor and Dale Brewer. He is survived by his wife, Opal Harwell of Odessa; daughter, Shirley Taylor and husband, Baize, of Odessa; sons, Joe Hardee and wife, Carole, of Sonora and Don Hardee and wife, Barbara, of Odessa; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and close friends, Nathan and Francis Hankins. Hickman, 72, of Odessa died Monday, Feb. 14, 2000, at Medical Center Hospital. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Dr. Philip McLarty and the Rev. Ray Hickman officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. He was born July 11, 1927, in Baker, Ore. He married Sue Morris Feb. 26, 1951, in Lovington, N.M. Mr. Hickman graduated from Phillips University in Enid, Okla., with a geology degree. He joined the U.S. Navy at 17 years of age and served three tours in World War II and the Korean Conflict and served on board the U.S.S. O’Bannon. He worked for Dresser Industries for 32 years and retired in 1986. He was an avid golfer and fisherman. Survivors include his wife, Sue Hickman of Odessa; sons, Mike A. Hickman of Odessa, the Rev. Ray A. Hickman of Tulsa, Okla., and Don D. Hickman of Williston, N.D.; brother, Roy Hickman and wife, Cretha, of Norman, Okla.; sisters, Delores Richmond and husband, Keith, of Odessa, and Frances Highsmith and husband, Robert, of Las Cruces, N.M.; eight grandchildren, Brett and Spencer Hickman of Tulsa, Okla., Holly and Steven Hickman of McCamey, Samantha and Landon Wimberley of Odessa and Jessica and Dustin Hickman of Williston, N.D. She was born June 19, 1911, in Baird. She married Joe B. Johnston Sr. on March 9, 1929, in Ranger. Mrs. Johnston was a lifetime resident of Odessa and a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She was a homemaker, she made wonderful pies and loved to take care of her grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Joe B. Johnston Sr.; sons, Joe B. Johnston Jr. and Thomas Franklin Johnston; and daughters, Ellen Francis Perry and Margaret Spain. Survivors include daughters, Ella Mae Clifton of Carlsbad, N.M., Mildred Mahler, Vera Smith and Gloria Sue Taylor, all of Odessa, and Johnnie Lynn Sumrow of Mabank; son, William Robert McMasters of Odessa; 50 grandchildren; 60 great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 17, 2000, at Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. James Bishop officiating. Interment will be at Rose Hill Cemetery. Zachary was in the sixth grade at John Ireland Elementary Magnet School. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church. Survivors include his father, Thomas Rodgers of Odessa; mother, Joy Rodgers of Monahans; grandmother, Tressie Bingham of Monahans; grandparents, Jack and Betty Smith of Monahans; and several aunts and uncles.
