February 18, 2000 Permian Basin Obituaries _________________________________________________________________ Medie Marie Lundy Nichols MIDLAND — Medie Marie Lundy Nichols passed from life to death at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 15, 2000, at Tranquility Hospice Center in Austell, Ga. Born Feb. 23, 1912, in Miller County, Ark., the last of seven children and the second daughter of Mabry Albert and Frances Tallulah Gillespie Lundy, she was educated in the public schools of Miller County and boarding school in Jefferson. On July 4, 1929, she married her childhood sweetheart, Lake Vestal "Nick" Nichols on the Texas/Arkansas state line in Miller County. The family moved to Rodessa, Caddo Parish, La., in 1936 where they remained until 1944, at which time the family moved to Wake Village, Bowie County. The family moved to Sundown in 1950, to Denver City in 1952, to Odessa in 1955 and Midland in 1960. She moved to Powder Springs, Ga., in 1998. Family, home and church were her world. She was predeceased by her parents, her only sister and all five of her brothers. Her husband died Aug. 19, 1990. Services are scheduled for Friday, Feb. 18, 2000, at 2 p.m. in the Ellis Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. James Aldridge of Northwestern Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park, where she will rest beside her husband of 61 years. Survivors are her son, J. WayIon Nichols and wife, Leona, of Odessa; daughter, Norma LaNeIl Daniel and husband, James, of Powder Springs, Ga.; grandsons, Lyndon Bruce Daniel and wife, Dawna, of Decatur, Ga., David Eugene Nichols and wife, Allene, of Arlington and Ramon Andrew Nichols of Arlington; granddaughters, Shelia Carol Wigley and husband, Gene, of Marietta and Sabrina Marie Christian and husband, Eric, of Kennesaw, Ga.; and great-grandchildren, Kristin Nicole WigIey of Marietta, Wesley Christian of Kennesaw and Maxwell Nichols of Arlington. Additionally, she is survived by nine nephews and six nieces. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, P.O. Box 3389, Midland, TX 79760.
