February 25, 2000 Permian Basin Obituaries _________________________________________________________________ Essie S. Franklin ODESSA — Essie S. Franklin, a longtime Odessa resident, passed away Sunday, Jan. 2, 2000, in Saluda, N.C. Mrs. Franklin was born May 31, 1917, in Sequoyah County, Okla., to Lem and Amanda Sullivent. She was 82 years of age. Burial was Jan. 5, 2000, in Tulsa, Okla. She graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a nursing degree. She spent about 20 years in Odessa as a registered nurse at Medical Center Hospital and privately for Dr. H.E. Hestand and Dr. Life Barnard. Upon retirement, she moved to Lewisville and then to North Carolina. Mrs. Franklin is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Sheila Franklin of Columbus, N.C.; daughter and son-in-law, Jeriann and Tom Fisher of Lewisville; sister, Alice Sullivent Keen of Dallas; twin sister, Jessie Sullivent Burgin of Lincoln, Neb.; brother, Jack Sullivent of Tulsa, Okla., and Sie Sullivent of Pensacola, Fla.; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas and John Sullivent. _________________________________________________________________ Bessie Mae Watson ODESSA — Bessie Mae Watson, 85, of Odessa died Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2000, at her residence. She was born March 16, 1914, in Lockesburg, Ark. She was raised in Roosevelt, Okla., and married James M. Watson, Nov. 1, 1930, in Lockesburg. They moved to Odessa from Wilson, Okla., in 1986. She was a homemaker but had owned a restaurant and had been a cook for schools and hospitals. She was a positive person who never complained, and never had a bad word to say. There was nothing that she would not try in cooking and sewing. She was preceded in death by her husband, April 11, 1994; daughter, Patsy Anderson; parents, John and Sally Henson; and five brothers, Bonnie, Hubert, Herbert, Richard, and Truman Henson. Survivors include her daughters, Peggy Wallis and husband, Curt, and Jimmie Gilham and husband, Jack, all of Odessa. She is also survived by grandchildren, Mike and Karen Wallis, Karen and Josh Villasenor, Kasey Garrett and Ashley Gilham; great-grandchildren, Joel and Melanie Villasenor, Lacy and Jason Wise, Lori Villasenor and Chrissy and Trey Harris; and great-great-grandchildren, Tyler, Kylie and Dakota. Other survivors include her sisters, Ollie Belle Robinson of Eunice, N.M., and Imogene Teague of Hobart, Okla. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 25, 2000. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 26, 2000, in the chapel of Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors with Rev. Melvin Warren officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.
