February 27, 2000 Permian Basin Obituaries _________________________________________________________________ ODESSA — Eula Mae Turner Jones Culvahouse, 95, of Odessa died Thursday, Feb. 24, 2000, at Avalon Nursing Center. Mrs. Culvahouse was born Jan. 6, 1905, in Katempcy in Mason County and moved to Odessa in 1987 from Kermit. She married James S. Culvahouse April 29, 1927 in Coleman. He preceded her in death Dec. 28, 1994. "I will never leave you nor forsake you." Hebrews 13:5 Many of us have heard her quote this verse. Over the years she faithfully has trusted God to keep this promise. She was a member of the First United Pentecostal Church. She served in the ministry with her husband, who pastored many Pentecostal churches in West Texas. Submitting to God’s call, she so willingly cared for families within the church and for visiting pastors. Her home was busy as she provided for a family with eight children. Her passions were quilting, doll making and collecting, cooking and sewing. She always enjoyed singing gospel hymns. She unselfishly gave to her husband, children and grandchildren without a single complaint. She was a sacrificial giver and a lady with a quiet, gentle spirit. She was a prayer warrior. God is truly blessing her now with the rewards she so deserves. Today, she is happily reunited with those gone before her: husband, James S. Culvahouse; son, Eugene Culvahouse; daughter, Dorothy Phillips; and grandchildren, Nita Kay Norwood and James Earl Culvahouse. She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Bill and Alice Culvahouse of Brownfield, Wayne and El Wanda Culvahouse of Midland and Nancy Culvahouse of Odessa; daughters and sons-in-law, Lucile and Leonard Granbery of Dekalb, Florence and Sherman Norwood and Mary and Don Lawson, all of Odessa, and Beverly and J.J. St. Germain of Alamogordo, NM; 15 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren; and sister, Midge Weinheimer of San Antonio. The family suggest memorials be made to Home Hospice. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 28, 2000, at the First United Pentecostal Church with Rev. Terry Pugh officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Jimmy Granbery, Jack Lawson, Dan Lawson, Dean Clemmer, Bryan Culvahouse, Steve Munsell, Herb Pearce and James Martin. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. _________________________________________________________________ Copyright © 2000 Odessa American. All rights reserved.
