March 14, 2000 Permian Basin Obituaries _________________________________________________________________ Harvey Cyrial "Mac" McCulloch ODESSA — Harvey Cyrial "Mac" McCulloch, 78, of Odessa passed away Sunday, March 12, 2000, in Midland. He was born March 28, 1921, in Sulfur Springs. He was the son of Harvey "Mac" McCulloch, grandson of Theodore Coke McCulloch and great-grandson of William J. McCollum. Private Memorial services will be held at a later date. Memorial gifts may be made to Home Hospice, Alzheimer’s Association, or the American Cancer Society. _________________________________________________________________ ODESSA — Ricky Shane Palmer was born May 31, 1972, in Odessa to Richard and Sandra Palmer. He passed away on Saturday, March 11, 2000. Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 15, 2000, at Sunset Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Steve Baker of River of Life Church officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Mr. Palmer was a lifetime resident of Odessa. Ricky worked as a driller in the oil field. He married Micky Walker on December 12, 1993, in Odessa. Ricky Palmer was loved by all. Survivors include his wife, Micky Palmer of Odessa; son, Robin Lee Palmer of Odessa; daughters, Fantyse RickelIa Palmer and Heather Parsons, both of Odessa. His mother, Sandra Palmer and father Richard C. Palmer of Weatherford; brothers, Russell Wayne Palmer and Chance Palmer, both of Odessa; sister, Becky Hogue of Odessa; grandparents, Clyde and Lydia Foster of Weatherford. Ricky was preceded in death by his brothers, Sheldon Earl Palmer and Stoney Justin Palmer. We all love you, Ricky. Services entrusted to Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Ramirez, 70, of Odessa, a seamstress, died Friday, March 10, 2000, at Methodist Hospital in Dallas. Services will be at 2 p.m. today at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. Fedilo Lugo officiating. Burial will be at Ector County Cemetery. Arrangements by Martinez Funeral Home. She was born Sept. 24, 1929, in Fort Stockton. She was preceded in death by her parents, Florentino Ramirez and Madelina Guiterezze. She was survived by her husband, Elias Bejaranoss Avenue of Dallas; son, Ismael Martinez of Odessa; daughters, Sylvia Perez of Fort Stockton and Tomasa Barrios of Odessa; brothers, Manuel Ramirez and Reynaldo Ramirez, both of Fort Stockton, and G.G. Ramirez and Henry Ramirez, both of Odessa; sisters, Sedora Subia of Fort Stockton, Mona Arredondo of Kansas City, Mo., and Rosa Bitolas of Odessa; 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. _________________________________________________________________ ODESSA — At 1:13 a.m. Monday, March 13, 82-year-old Carl Green stepped softly into his new life. He was surrounded by most of his immediate family: Jewel, his wife of 62 years; his son, Edward Lee Green and his wife, JoLynn, and their daughters, Racheal and Charity, all of Odessa; his daughter, Jeannette, of Irving; his brother-in-law, W. B. Campbell and his wife, Mary, of Buda; and his brother, Dewey Green of Horizan City. Carl left a legacy of seven great-grandsons, Edward Wayne, James Michael, Nicholas Ray, Jonathan, Joel Lane, Nicholas and Jordan. He is also survived by his brother, Virgil Green; and his aunt, Pinkie Pappas of Wichita Falls. Carl was born in Seymour and received his education in the Electra and Wichita Falls public school system. After serving four years in the U.S. Navy, South Pacific, he was honorably discharged as a first class petty officer. He began service with Continental Oil Co. (CONOCO) Sept. 6, 1946, and retired after 35 years in 1981. A long time resident of Hamlin and Anson, he was Post Commander of the VFW in Hamlin and was a member of the Anson VFW; he was a member of the Suez Shrine Temple in San Angelo and a member of the First Baptist Church of Anson. In September 1999, he and his wife became active residents of Lincoln Towers in Odessa. Memorial services will be held at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 14, 2000. Services are entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. _________________________________________________________________ MUNDAY — Glenn D. Henson, 65, of Odessa died Saturday, March 11, 2000, at his residence. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today at Gillispie Cemetery in Munday. He was born March 25, 1934, in Munday. Mr. Henson came to Odessa in 1975 from Monahans. He graduated from Texas Tech University in 1957 with a degree in petroleum engineering. He worked for M.I. Drilling Fluids for 38 years beginning in 1962. He was a member of the Church of Christ. Survivors include his sons, Steven G. Henson and wife, Lisa, of Odessa, James G. Henson and wife, Terri, of Kansas City, Mo., David W. Henson and wife, Elena, of Houston and Roger D. Henson and wife, Gwendy, of Hobbs, N.M.; brothers, Billy Ray Henson and wife, Patsy, of Brock and Jimmy E. Henson of Tioga; sisters, Bobbie Grisham of Wichita Falls and Wanda Pruitt and husband, Billy Joe, of Wichita Falls; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Local arrangements by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. _________________________________________________________________ ODESSA — Leonard Eugene Rush passed away at his home in Odessa on March 11, 2000. He was born in Omega, Ill., June 29, 1923, and grew up in Salem, Ill., where he participated in sports and was elected president of his senior class. After graduating from high school, he briefly worked in Arkansas prior to answering his call to service in the U.S. Army. During World War II, Leonard saw action in Austria and Germany and was awarded the Bronze Star for valor in combat. After receiving his honorable discharge, Leonard resumed his career as a surveyor, working on seismograph crews in New Mexico and western Oklahoma. While in Oklahoma, he met Billie Fern Bradshaw who became his wife Feb. 6, 1949. From this union, three children were born Charles Monroe, James Madon and Mary Ellen. Leonard moved his family to Odessa in 1960 after accepting employment with Shell Oil Co. He worked at the gas plant in Notrees, and then worked in the field performing duties in gas measurement and production until his retirement in 1985. He enjoyed all aspects of his work, and took great pride in his responsibilities and his safety record. Upon his retirement, Leonard maintained a busy life by working at the Baptist Crisis Center, cultivating a large garden and serving at his church. He enjoyed all types of handicrafts, and won awards for his miniature scale models of prairie schooners, Conastoga wagons and western furniture and tools. He relished his time in the outdoors, and devoted many hours to caring for his vacation home in Ruidoso. Leonard is survived by his wife, Billie, of 51 years; sisters, Marion Hardy of Flora, Ill., and Margie Wilson of Longview. He also is survived by his three children, seven grandchildren and many other friends and family members. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 14, 2000, at Crescent Park Baptist Church.
