March 16, 2000 Permian Basin Obituaries _________________________________________________________________ ODESSA — Beloved wife, devoted mother and endless friend. Irene H. Garcia finished her voyage to her eternal home Tuesday afternoon at Medical Center Hospital. She was born Feb. 28, 1940, in Fresnillo Zacatecas, Mexico, to Macario and Delfina Hernandez. On Oct. 13, 1962, she fell in love and married her prince, Eliseo S. Garcia; together they cherished the birth of four children. At the tender age of 14, she came to know the Lord, being baptized in the name of Jesus. She was actively involved in church both in her youth and throughout her life. In her local church she was involved with many committees and auxiliaries including secretary/treasury for her women’s group. A faithful, hard worker, she became a board member at the West Texas Level. After a lengthy illness she left to be with her Creator and live out her faith. She will be greatly missed by all those whose lives she touched. Survivors include her husband, Eliseo S. Garcia Sr.; children, Elizama and husband, Richard Martinez, Blanca and her husband, Lorenzo Jackson, Maricruz Garica and Eliseo Jr. and wife, Dora Garcia, all of Odessa; sisters, Evangelina Hernandez and Alicia Gomez, both of El Paso; and brother, Roberto Hernandez of Los Angeles. And she will be missed by her eight grandchildren. Viewing will be from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. today with a remembrance service at 7 p.m. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at First Apostolic Assembly of the Faith in Jesus Christ Inc., with the Rev. Roman Arreola officiating. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery. Arrangements by Martinez Funeral Home. _________________________________________________________________ ODESSA — Bessie Standley, 96, of Odessa died Monday, March 13, 2000, at a local nursing facility. Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with Charles Jones officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. She was born March 13, 1904, in Checotah, Okla. She married Harrold Vaden Standley in 1922 in Santa Anna. He preceded her in death in 1952. Mrs. Standley had lived in Odessa since 1947. She graduated from Abilene Christian College in 1927 and received her master’s from Sam Houston Teachers College in 1945. She was an English teacher for the Ector County Independent School District and Odessa College for 50 years. She was a member of Parkview Church of Christ. Survivors include her nephews, Don Smith of Odessa, A. Richard Smith of Fort Worth, David G. Smith of Odessa and Jack Watkins of Ruidoso, N.M.; nieces, Alice Cothron and Beth Luttrell, both of Hendersonville, Tenn. The family suggests memorials to Odessa Christian School or Lubbock School of Preaching. Services entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. _________________________________________________________________ Eddie Farrow After a short illness, Eddie Farrow died of cancer Saturday, March 11, 2000, in Conroe, surrounded by his family and friends. Eddie was born Dec. 2, 1952, in Lubbock. He graduated from Permian High School in 1971, and married Kris Mahoney in 1982. After a 20-year career in the oilfield, Eddie and Kris moved to Austin, where he was employed by Austin Oxygen. Preceding Eddie in death were his parents, JoNeIl and Paul Farrow, and his beloved niece Cassie Farrow, as well as his mother-in-law Doris Harwell. Eddie is survived by his wife, Kris; brother, Joe Farrow; stepmother, Mona Beth Farrow; stepsiblings, Becky Sayre, Gay Beth Wilson and David Dopps; his cousin, Mark Krupricka, who opened his home and his life to Eddie and Kris the last several months of Eddie’s life; niece and nephew, Tara and Jake Farrow; Kris’s stepfather and brothers, Charles and David Harwell and Greg Mahoney; and other relatives and many friends. Services will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, March 18, at Wilke-Amey-Clay Funeral Home in Austin with Cathe Halford officiating.
