March 23, 2000 Permian Basin Obituaries _________________________________________________________________ MONAHANS — On March 7, 1928, the world was blessed with the birth of R.E. "Bob" Landers. He was born to Clover and Georgie Landers in Dallas. He later moved to East Mountain and graduated from East Mountain High School in 1945. He was in the Navy and honorably discharged. He was married to Marie Hickman Aug. 28, 1953, in Lovington, N.M. They lived in Odessa where he was vice president of Wright Rental Tools Inc. He moved to Monahans in 1974 and was owner and operator of Cox Tong Rental in Wickett. He passed away Tuesday, March 21, 2000, at his home. He was a member of First Church of the Nazarene in Odessa. He is survived by his wife, Marie Landers of Monahans; sister, Mary Smith of Dallas; children, Robert E. Landers Jr. of Odessa and his wife, Vicki, Karen Ward of Midland, Shelia Michel and husband, Duff of Kermit, Sherry Morgan and husband, Darrell, of New Braunfels. He had 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was a loving husband, devoted father and grandfather. Services will be at 3 p.m. Friday, March 24, 2000, at First Church of the Nazarene in Odessa. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens under the direction of Harkey Funeral Home.
