March 29, 2000 Permian Basin Obituaries _________________________________________________________________ ODESSA Julia Ramirez Garcia of Odessa died Monday, March 27, 2000, at Deerings Nursing Center. She was born November 3, 1918, in Odessa. Mrs. Garcia was a Catholic. She was a photographer and an avid gardener. She is survived by her sisters, Wanda Serna, Frances Jordan and Trixie Cobos, all of Odessa. She was a second mother to Ron and Tina Clifton of Odessa, as well as an aunt. She also was a second grandmother to Erin and Emilee Clifton as well as a great-aunt; nieces, Louisa Dietrich of Germany, Julia Medina, Christy Ramirez, Debbie King, Cindy Perales, all of Odessa; and nephews, John Serna of San Antonio, Robert Cobos of Midland; several great-nieces and nephews, Dirk Dietrich and Angie Dietrich of Germany, Lisa Aranda and Pat Chavez of Odessa, Joe, Chris and Melissa King of Odessa, Paul, Sarah, Michael, Samantha, and Mark Perales of Odessa, Juan, Jorge and Jasmine Serna of San Antonio, Jessica, Robin and Tracy Cobos of Midland; and great-great-nieces and nephews, Michael Anthony Evans, Daniella and Julian Aranda of Odessa, Anthony and Jasmine Chavez of Odessa. Stout Sr. was born Feb. 10, 1931, in Chillicothe to Cecil Calvert and Mary Ella Loveless Stout. He was reared and educated in Kermit. Following graduation from high school, he attended the University of Wyoming on a football scholarship and later he attended North Texas State University. He served in the Air Force for four years. On April 24, 1953, he married Beverly Adams in Greens Bayou. He was employed as county treasurer for Winkler County. Mr. Stout was a member of Kermit Volunteer Fire Department and the Masonic Lodge No. 1258 in Kermit. Mr. Stout died at a local hospital Monday, March 27, 2000. He is survived by his wife, Beverly Stout of Midland; children and grandchildren, John Stout Jr. and his sons, Cole and Trent, of Midland, Russell Stout and his daughter, Lexie, of San Antonio, Don Stout and his daughter, Emory, of Midland and Diann Stout and her daughter, Samantha, of Odessa. Funeral services have been scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 29, 2000, at First Christian Church with the Rev. Russell Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home. _________________________________________________________________ ODESSA Gail Clark Ledbetter, 61, of Odessa died Monday, March 27, 2000, at Medical Center Hospital. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Sherwood Baptist Church with the Rev. Tom Hiser officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. She was born May 29, 1938, in Fort Worth. She married Jay Don Ledbetter Sr. April 14, 1956, in Clovis, N.M. Mrs. Ledbetter moved to Odessa in 1969 from Lubbock. She was a retired secretary and a longtime member of Sherwood Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jay D. Ledbetter Sr. Survivors include her daughters, Sharla Brasher and husband, Steve, of Amarillo, Rhonda Short and husband, Don, of Odessa, Barbara Eaton and husband, Roddy, of Odessa; son, Jay Don Ledbetter Jr. and wife, Tammy, of Odessa; brother, Wray K. Clark and wife, Helen, of Phoenix; sister, Glynn C. Young and husband, Bobby, of Enid, Okla.; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Services entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. _________________________________________________________________ ODESSA Virginia Lee Minyen, 67, passed away Tuesday, March 28, 2000, at Medical Center Hospital after a lengthy illness. Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 30, 2000, at Sunset Memorial Chapel with Pastor Tom Hiser of Sherwood Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Virginia Minyen was born July 15, 1932, in Pauls Valley, Okla. She married Clyde W. Minyen Dec. 21, 1949, in Pauls Valley, Okla. Mrs. Minyen moved to Odessa with her husband in 1956. She was a longtime employee of Strike-It-Rich, a homemaker for four children and a lifetime member of Sherwood Baptist Church. Mrs. Minyen was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde, in 1981; and her eldest son, Larry Minyen, in 1998. Mrs. Minyen is survived by her sons, Rickey Minyen of Odessa and his family and Byron Minyen of Houston and his family; and daughter, Lisa Wallin and family of Austin; and longtime companion and friend, Mr. Jay Smith of Odessa. Mrs. Minyen not only took great pride in her children but also in the six grandchildren she valued as her greatest treasure. She will be remembered for her generous nature, loving words, love of life and, of course, her polite, quiet way. The family members of Mrs. Minyen would like to express their gratitude for all the support, kind words and expressions of love that have come their way during the past several months. She was born Nov. 13, 1907, in Mills County. She moved to Odessa from Crane in 1969, and was a member of Crescent Park Church of Christ. She was part Choctaw Indian and a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack O. Smith; and son, W. D. Smith. Survivors include her sons and their wives, James A. Smith and Simona of Del Rio, Owen Smith and Corliss of Austin, Billy Smith and Ann of Odessa, Darrell Smith and Sandra of Golden, Colo., and Larry Smith and Tracey of Katy. She is also survived by daughters and their husbands, Wanda Campbell and Doyle of Houston, Wahnelle Hollander and Bobby of Odessa, Norma Sue Coon and John of Kenai, Alaska, Zadella Moore and Paul of Long Beach, Calif., Jane Blue and Raymond of Odessa, and Jackie Jeter and Warren of Katy. Other survivors include 66 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; sisters, Alma Farley and Dolores Taylor, both of Brownwood; and brother, Douglas Perkins of Bangs. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 29, 2000, in the chapel of Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors with Paul Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery. Imogene married E.W. "Frosty" Seabolt Oct. 1, 1946, in Odessa. He preceded her in death April 27, 1966. She was a homemaker and a lifetime resident of Odessa. She was also a member of Westwood Baptist Church. Survivors include her daughters, Diane Myers and her husband, Ray, and Debra Slocumb, all of Odessa; brother, Leo Davidson of Garland; grandchildren, Angelia Slocumb, Steve Slocumb, Jennifer Myers and Brian Myers, all of Odessa; great-grandchildren; Bryan and Ryan Slocumb, Christopher Takeda, Patrick Takeda and Taylor Slocumb, all of Odessa.
