April 03, 2000 Permian Basin Obituaries _________________________________________________________________ Mildred Whittington MIDLAND — Mildred Cooper Whittington was born July 29, 1915 in Lewisville, Texas, to John Walter and Sarah Elminy (Raney) Cooper. She moved with her family to Roscoe, Texas, in the mid-twenties and graduated from Roscoe High School in 1934. She attended nursing school in Sweetwater. She was employed with various hospitals and nursing homes throughout West Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest (Red) D. Whittington, and her two daughters, Jo Carroll Whittington Matlock and Patsy Ruth Whittington. She is survived by daughter, Molly M. Whittington; son, Steve Whittington; sister-in-law, Carrie Maud Cooper; nieces Joyce Porter, Kay Shipley, Jackie Harrell, Shirley Pounds; nephews, Herb Cooper, and Jimmy Cooper; many great nieces and nephews and other extended family and friends. Mrs. Whittington died Saturday, April 1, 2000, in a Midland hospital. Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. today, April 3, 2000, in Ellis Funeral Home with her son, Steve Whittington, officiating. Graveside services will follow at 3 p.m. in Roscoe Cemetery in Roscoe, Texas. Ellis Funeral Home of Midland is in charge of arrangements. _________________________________________________________________ ODESSA — Carolyn Sue Vickers of Odessa died March 31, 2000, at Medical Center Hospital. She was born to Alvis and Geneva Renick April 16, 1947, in Lamesa. She married Mark Vickers on July 4, 1981. She was a beautician at the salon at Lincoln Towers and a longtime resident of Odessa and a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. Survivors include her husband, Mark Vickers of Odessa; sons, Tony McClinton and Richard McClinton, both of Odessa; mother, Geneva Renick of Odessa; brother, Sam Renick of Del City, Okla.; sisters, Sharon Frye and Bob-bye Goodson, both of Odessa; grandchildren, Beau and Chase McClinton, Tommy and Megan McClinton, Brooklyn and BA Liegh McClinton. Carolyn was preceded in death by her father, Alvis "Frog" Renick; and her son, Vince McClinton. Services will be today, April 3, 2000, at 2 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Chapel with the Rev. James Bridges officiating.
