April 05, 2000 Permian Basin Obituaries _________________________________________________________________ ODESSA — Charles Lewis Coppinger, 72, of Odessa died Monday, April 3, 2000, at his residence, 2330 Country Club Drive. Services will be at 2 p.m. today at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Ernest Easley officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Cross Plains Cemetery in Cross Plains with the Rev. Joe Coppinger officiating. He was born in Cottonwood. He married Margaret Greenwood June 3, 1950. Mr. Coppinger moved to Odessa in 1968. He served in the Army during the Korean Conflict from 1951 to 1952, stationed in Austria. He worked for Halliburton for 16 years in various locations in West Texas before acquiring his own company, Coppinger Supply in Odessa in 1968. He was a member and deacon of First Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Maud Coppinger; son, Terry Charles Coppinger; and brothers, John Edward and Tommy James Coppinger. The family suggests memorials be made to First Baptist Church Youth of Odessa. Survivors include his wife, Margaret Coppinger of Odessa; son, Kerry Dale Coppinger and his wife, Debbie, of Centerville; sisters, Minnie Cunningham and Louise Richardson, both of Cross Plains, and Winnie Lane of Baird; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Honorary pallbearers will be Jack Claassen, Larry Bell, Tommy Bright, Gene Ferguson, Steve Borchert, John Bryant, Bill Lawrence, Wesley Ingram, Cliff Kirkham, W.G. McCoy, David Greenwood, Reagan Greenwood, Michael Cowan, Dale Bishop and Eric Coppinger. Services entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. _________________________________________________________________ Jesus Loera MIDLAND — Jesus Loera was born Dec. 23, 1901, in El Mulato, Chihuahua, Mexico, where he was reared and educated. He married Filomena Ramos, in El Mulato, Sept. 19, 1925. They moved to Midland in 1968. Mr. Loera died at a local hospital Tuesday, April 4, 2000. He was preceded in death by his wife, Filomena Loera, Jan. 29, 1986; a son, Gregorio Loera, Sept. 18, 1984; daughter, Delia Loera, Jan. 2, 1997; and grandson, Jesus Hernandez, Oct. 6, 1972. He is survived by his son, Octavio Loera and his wife, Carmen; daughters, Trinidad Hernandez and her husband, Baudelio, Florentina Garcia and her husband, Pedro, Catalina Loera, and Socorro Vargas and her husband, Abel, all of Midland; 18 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, April 5, 2000, at the family home at 113 E. Cowden Ave. Rosary will be said from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Ellis Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Our Lady of San Juan Catholic Church with Father Tom Kelley officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home. _________________________________________________________________ ODESSA — J.M. Moody, 82, of Odessa died Monday, April 3, 2000, at Medical Center Hospital. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jim Ray Brown officiating. Burial will be a Sunset Memorial Gardens. He was born May 4, 1917, in Sweetwater. He married Velma Smith on March 4, 1948, in Brownfield. Mr. Moody moved to Odessa in 1948 from Brownfield. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He received the Bronze Star and Purple Heart while serving in the Philippines. He was a retired carpenter. Survivors include his wife, Velma Moody of Odessa; sons, James Moody of Burleson and Larry Moody of Odessa; daughter, Betty Stovall of Lubbock; 10 grandchildren, Michael Moody of Austin, Shellie Cochran of Burleson, Russel Moody and Rachel Moody, both of Odessa, Rodney Moody of Marshall, N.C., Vanessa Delaney of College Station, Steven Barry Stovall of Idalou, April Mauland of Montana and Robin Wilson and Richard Earl Stovall, both of Lubbock; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Services entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. _________________________________________________________________ Josephine Perez Williams ODESSA — Josephine was born Jan. 11, 1933, in Melvin to Francisco and Josefina Perez. She passed away April 4, 2000, at Medical Center Hospital after a lengthy illness. Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday, April 6, 2000, at the Holy Redeemer Catholic Church with Father Frank Chavez officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today at the Sunset Memorial Chapel. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Mrs. Williams was a longtime resident of Odessa. She was a graduate of Angelo State University with a bachelor’s degree in nursing. She worked for Medical Center Hospital for over thirty years. On June 23, 1958, she married Billy Williams. She was one of the founding members of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church and was a member of the Northside Senior Citizens Center. Survivors include her husband, Billy Mack Williams Sr. of Odessa; daughters, Patricia McCutcheon and children, Carole Josephine, Shawn Michael and Deloris Williams; son, Billy Mack Williams Jr., and his children, Sheila Yvette Williams and Jason Jackson; brothers, Zachary and wife, Trinidad Perez, Jose Arnold and wife, Luz Perez, Oscar and wife, Belia Perez; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her father, Francisco Perez; mother, Josefina Perez; sisters, Isabel Salame and Manuelita Duran; brothers, Francisco Perez, Luis Perez, Carvalito Perez and Guadalupe Perez. Pallbearers will be Clark Racca, Billy Williams, Jason Jackson, Wes Surber, Jim Oliver and Perry Willis. Honorary pallbearers will be Mark Ayers and Fernando Araiza and Tom Johnson. Graveside services were Tuesday, April 4, 2000, at Rose Hill Cemetery. Arrangements were by Odessa Funeral Home Angeles Memorial Chapel. He was born in Brownwood.
