Services will be at a later date. He was born April 24, 1927, in Presidio. Mr. Baeza worked for Manuel’s Restaurant for many years. Survivors include his brothers, Raul S. Baeza of Odessa, Manuel S. Baeza of Andrews, Dulces Baeza of Midland, Jose S. Baeza of San Antonio and Daniel Baeza of Presidio; sisters, Maria Baeza Prieto and Maria De La Luz Baeza of Marfa; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be at 10 a.m. today at Temple Baptist Church Chapel with the Rev. Randy Unruh officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. He was born Sept. 27, 1933, in Big Spring. He married Clara Dolloff March 21, 1957, in Seminole. Mr. Robinson moved to Odessa in 1960 from Snyder. He served in the Army. He retired from Rowan Drilling Co. after 37 1/2 years of service. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and being outdoors. He loved being with his family and loved his grandchildren very much. He was Baptist. He was preceded in death by great-granddaughter, Victoria McDowell. Survivors include his wife, Clara Robinson of Odessa; sons, Brad Robinson and wife, Tammy, of Dripping Springs and C.W. Tolliver of Odessa; daughters, Phoebe McDowell of Odessa, Deanie Kennedy and Kay Kendall and husband, Tom, and Jo Gray and husband, Dennis, all of Odessa; sisters, Goldie Fair of Garner, N.C., and Melba Sandinge of Nikolski, Alaska; five grandchildren, Ara Gray, Brandon Robinson, Casey Robinson, Dylan Robinson and Chelsey Kendall; and one great-grandchild, Meagan McDowell. The family suggest memorials be made to the American Diabetes Association or the National Liver Foundation. Terk ODESSA — David B. Terk, age 70, of San Antonio, died Sunday, April 9, 2000. He was a Korean War Veteran, serving in the ninth Infantry Unit where he received the Bronze Star. Mr. Terk was the CEO of Terk Distributing Company and American Beverage Company. He was an outdoor enthusiast dedicated to wildlife conservation, and a member of many organizations such as, The Grand Slam Club, Texas Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association, International Sheep Hunters Association, Safari Club International and Ducks Unlimited. Mr. Terk was a world class marksman in competitive shooting, and was honored to represent his country in the World Cup. Del Rio was a second home for many years where he enjoyed ranching at the Sycamore Creek Ranch and Cienegas Ranch. Survivors include his wife, Joyce L. Terk; daughters, Kristin Rebecca Belt and husband, Wheat, Kimberly Terk Murphy and husband, Michael; grandchildren, Mitchell, Morgan, and McKenna; sister, Sara Shiloff and husband, Robert; brothers, Roger Terk, Michael Terk and wife, Cindy, and Jay Terk. Whitehead ODESSA — James Elbert "J.E." Whitehead, 86, of Odessa passed away Saturday, April 8, 2000, at Medical Center Hospital. He was born May 28, 1913, in Cleburne to Gertrude and Thomas Whitehead. He married Muriel White May 27, 1939, in Fort Worth. Mr. Whitehead received his bachelor of business administration degree from Hardin Simmons University in Abilene and his masters of arts degree from the University of Texas at Austin. "Prof" as he was affectionately known by those who loved and respected him, devoted his life to nurturing and educating thousands of young students in West Texas. He began his career in Sweetwater in 1938. In 1942, he and Muriel moved to Odessa, where he was employed by Ector County Independent School District as teacher and principal until he retired in 1978. He coached basketball, golf and tennis at Odessa College and also loved announcing football games with his son Gary at Barrett Stadium. Known as a man of integrity and humility, Mr. Whitehead especially loved God, his family. golf and fishing. He was a member of First Baptist Church where he taught many years of Adult Sunday school. After his retirement he enjoyed his monthly get-togethers with the Nimitz Retired Teachers Group at the Radisson Hotel. He was preceded in death by his parents and several brothers and sisters. He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Muriel of Odessa; son, Gary and wife, Jill, of Odessa; daughter, Charlotte Horne and husband, Wade, of Monahans; sister, Thelma Quick and husband, Kenneth, of Webster City, Iowa; two granddaughters, Quincy Whitehead of Irving and Kacy Tierney and husband, Tom, of Dallas; great-granddaughter Niamh Tierney; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Jack Claasen, Bob Colin, Jimmy Dunn, Richard Kelly, Bert Mann and Charles Walker. Honorary pallbearers will be Luther Guffy and Tom Davis. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 11, 2000, at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Ernest Easley officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. The family requests that memorial gifts be given to First Baptist Church, the American Cancer Society, or the American Lung Association. Smith and Millard Ray Smith, both of Lamesa; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
