April 25, 2000 Permian Basin Obituaries _________________________________________________________________ Marjorie Corinne Moore Letterman ODESSA — Our precious mother and grandmother Marjorie Corinne Moore Letterman went to be with our Lord on April 23, 2000. Mrs. Letterman was born July 23, 1920, in Burkett to William Mitchell Moore and Bertha Willie Wood Moore, whom preceded her in death. As a child, Mrs. Letterman grew up in Crane, with her sister Lucille Moore Hey, who also pre-ceded her in death. She married Otto Letterman in 1936 and made their home in the Sinclair Prairie Oil & Gas Camp in Wink. They later moved and worked in the ship yards in Washington State during WWII helping to build aircraft carriers. In 1950, Mr. & Mrs. Letterman moved to Penwell until 1962 at which time they moved to Odessa. Mr. Letterman preceded his wife in joining the Lord in 1983. Mrs. Letterman was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Eula, Texas. She retired from ECISD as a bus driver and was an active member of the Odessa Sr. Citizens until she be-came ill in 1997. Our Loving mother and grand-mother will be greatly missed by her family, daughter Jean Letter-man Ross and husband Steve C. of Odessa, three grandchildren Melinda Dow Garrett and husband Rusty, Billy Dow and wife Stacy, Jerry Ross and wife Lori, all of Odessa; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and one niece Wanda Palmer of Albuquer-que, N.M. She will also be missed by her many friends which include the nurses and aides of the New Hori-zons Nursing Home where she spent the last 2 1/2 years of her life. The family would like to ex-press our many thanks to the wonderful and caring staff at new Horizons & Home Hospice for their care and love of our mother and grandmother. Services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Johnny Witherspoon officiating. interment will be in the Odessa Cemetery. Services entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. _________________________________________________________________ Helen Virginia Stowe Muns ODESSA — Helen Muns, 88, passed away Monday, April 24, 2000, at Medical Center Hospital. Memorial services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the First Presbyterian Church with Dr. Philip McClarty officiating. Fam-ily visitation will be between 4 and 6 p.m. Tuesday at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Helen Muns was born July 31, 1911 in Ft. Dodge Iowa to Judge Herman Wilmer and Beulah Blag-den Stowe. She married Ralph Everett Muns August 23, 1937, in Ft. Dodge and moved to Odessa in 1947 from Pittsburgh, PA. Helen was a member of the First Presbyterian Church where she served as President of the Women of the Church and taught Adult Sunday School for over twenty-five years. She was a member of Chap-ter BT P.E.O., The Odessa Study Club and was a Past Regent of the Nathaniel Davis Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revo-lution. She was a graduate of Northwestern University. Follow-ing graduation she worked in New York City for seven years. She is survived by her husband Ralph of 62 years; two daughters Nancy Helen Leonard and hus-band, Gary of Abilene; Susan Lee Parker and husband, Phil of Odessa; three sons, Roger Edward and wife, Mary Ethel of Brandon, MS, Bruce Allen of Odessa, and Ronald James and wife, Lee of Colorado Springs, CO; one sister, Mary Louise Heston of Pittsburgh, PA; two sisters-in-law, Bernadene Stowe of Chicago, IL; Dorothy Stowe of Omaha, NE; ten grand-children, David Barton Leonard and wife, Vivian of Abilene; Laura Kathryn Leonard Weeks and hus-band, Capt. Patrick of Goose Creek, SC; JoEllen Kaye Parker Aldridge and husband, Lance of Addison, TX; Pamela Cox Parker of Los Angeles, CA; Philip Lind Parker, Jr., of Waco; Judith Stowe Muns Day and husband, Michael of Oxford, OH; Edward Dotson Muns and wife, Chris Foster of Louisville, KY; Robert Andrew Muns and wife, Natalia of Caracas, Venezuela, Emily Kristin Muns of Ft Myers, FL; Katherine Ann Muns of Chicago, IL; four great-grandchildren, Danielle and Aaron Leonard of Abilene, and twins, Allison and Taylor Weeks of Goose Creek, SC. Helen was preceded in death by her parents; one son, John Charles Muns; three brothers, Wilmer Blagden Stowe, Ronald Lawrence Stowe, Douglas Robert Stowe; two sisters, Blanche Allene Muns, and Beulah Blagden Collins. Family requests memorial con-tributions be made to the First Presbyterian Church, the local Alzheimer's Association or the charity of your choice. Honorary pallbearers will be Gene Clark, Guy Elliott, Harry Mitchell, Gene Schneider, Bernie Sedate, Ed Tucker, Don Williams, and John Willis. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home. _________________________________________________________________ Cleo Shoemake ODESSA — Services for Cleo Shoemake, 79, of Odessa are scheduled for 4 p.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Steve Trout officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memo-rial Gardens. Mrs. Shoemake died Monday, April 24, 2000, at Medical Center Hospital after a short illness. She was born Jan. 5, 1921, in Midland. She married Kenneth Lloyd Shoe-make on Dec. 7, 1940, in Midland. He died in 1985. Mrs. Shoemake moved to Odessa in 1943 from Midland. She was a member of the American Business Women’s Association, a member of First United Methodist Church and an active member of the Friendship Class, since 1943. Survivors include her daugh-ters, Kay Cain and husband Ed of Houston, Heidi Rodriguez and husband Dan of Plano, Terry O'Rear and husband Eddie of Fairbanks; brother, Terry Tidwell of Tulsa, Okla.; seven grandchil-dren, Kim Mitchell, Shawn O'Rear, Brooke Olm, Hayden O'Rear, Drew Nguyen, Lesa Rojero and Joseph Rodriguez; and four great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials to Door of Hope Mission. Services entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. _________________________________________________________________ Forrest Miller Walker PECOS — Forrest Miller Walker, 83, born June 29, 1916 in Merkel, passed away on Saturday, April 22, 2000, in Pecos, at Reeves County Hospital. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. today at Barstow Ceme-tery, under the direction of Pecos Funeral Home. Mr. Walker served in World War II, 32nd Division Infantry Co. C. He was in 3 South Pacific Cam-paigns, in New Guinea & For Marsby. He was a member of the Lutheran Church. He was a Civil Service employee as Camp Bowie & Brownwood, and Naval Air base in Corpies Chest and Webb Air Force Base, Big Spring and Pyote Air Base and Radar Site. He moved to Ward County in 1948 then later moved to Barstow in 1961. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jewell & H.O. Walker. Survivors include his wife, Theresa Walker; a brother, Ernest Walker and his wife Nancy of Texas City; a stepdaughter, Sherri Goode Bonilla and her husband Bill of El Paso; a grandson, Mike Bonilla of Dallas; a sister-in-law, Bobbie Avary and her husband Shine of Barstow; and numerous nieces and nephews.
