April 26, 2000 Permian Basin Obituaries _________________________________________________________________ Helen Virginia Stowe Muns ODESSA — Helen Muns, 88, passed away Monday, April 24, 2000, at Medical Center Hospital. Memorial services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the First Presbyterian Church with Dr. Philip McClarty officiating. Family visitation will be between 4 and 6 p.m. Tuesday at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Helen Muns was born July 31, 1911, in Ft. Dodge, Iowa, to Judge Herman Wilmer and Beulah Blagden Stowe. She married Ralph Everett Muns August 23, 1937, in Ft. Dodge and moved to Odessa in 1947 from Pittsburgh, Pa. Helen was a member of the First Presbyterian Church where she served as President of the Women of the Church and taught Adult Sunday School for over twenty-five years. She was a member of Chapter BT P.E.O., The Odessa Study Club and was a Past Regent of the Nathaniel Davis Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was a graduate of Northwestern University. Following graduation she worked in New York City for seven years. She is survived by her husband Ralph of 62 years; two daughters, Nancy Helen Leonard and husband, Gary of Abilene; Susan Lee Parker and husband, Phil of Odessa; three sons, Roger Edward and wife, Mary Ethel of Brandon, MS, Bruce Allen of Odessa, and Ronald James and wife, Lee of Colorado Springs, CO; one sister, Mary Louise Heston of Pittsburgh, PA; two sisters-in-law, Bernadene Stowe of Chicago, IL; Dorothy Stowe of Omaha, NE; ten grandchildren, David Barton Leonard and wife, Vivian of Abilene; Laura Kathryn Leonard Weeks and husband, Capt. Patrick of Goose Creek, SC; JoEllen Kaye Parker Aldridge and husband, Lance of Addison, TX; Pamela Cox Parker of Los Angeles, CA; Philip Lind Parker, Jr., of Waco; Judith Stowe Muns Day and husband, Michael of Oxford, OH; Edward Dotson Muns and wife, Chris Foster of Louisville, KY; Robert Andrew Muns and wife, Natalia of Caracas, Venezuela, Emily Kristin Muns of Ft. Myers, FL; Katherine Ann Muns of Chicago, IL; four great-grandchildren, Danielle and Aaron Leonard of Abilene, and twins, Allison and Taylor Weeks of Goose Creek, SC. Helen was preceded in death by her parents; one son, John Charles Muns; three brothers, Wilmer Blagden Stowe, Ronald Lawrence Stowe, Douglas Robert Stowe; two sisters, Blanche Allene Muns, and Beulah Blagden Collins. Family requests memorial contributions be made to the First Presbyterian Church, the local Alzheimer’s Association or the charity of your choice. Honorary pallbearers will be Gene Clark, Guy Elliott, Harry Mitchell, Gene Schneider, Bernie Sedate, Ed Tucker, Don Williams, and John Willis.
