April 30, 2000 Permian Basin Obituaries _________________________________________________________________ ODESSA — Charlie R. Ward Jr., 74, of Odessa died Friday, April 28, 2000, at Medical Center Hospital. He was born March 29, 1926, in Midland County. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and a Baptist. He married Joan Sinclair on March 14, 1951. In the early ’60s, he worked for Commercial Radio and in the communications department with the city of Odessa. In 1968, they moved to Kingsland where he owned his own television sales and service company until 1975. He and Joan returned to Odessa and he went back to work for Commercial Radio Service until 1984 when he went to work for Conoco until his retirement in 1989. After retirement, he spent time with his hobbies, working on the computer, reading, and the grandkids and great grandkids. Survivors include his wife, Joan of Odessa: sons and daughters-in-law, George Roy and Linda Ward of Longview, and Alan and Linann Ward of Cedar Park; daughter and son-in-law, Suzy and Russell Hickerson of Odessa. He is also survived by sister, Jerry Lynn Collins of Irving; and brother, John B. Ward of Snook. He was "Pops" to the grandchildren, Joseph and Jasmin, Jason and Heather, Susan, William, Jayde, Mitchell, Jason, and Samantha; and six great-grandchildren, Kailee, Logan, Jayda, Caitlin, Tyler and Morgan. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, May 1, 2000, at Sunset Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Dr. Ernest Easley officiating. Arrangements by Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors. (www.wilsonfuneral.com) _________________________________________________________________ Eugene Osbourn LLANO — Eugene "Russell" Osbourn, 90, of Llano, a retired rancher, died Friday, April 28, 2000, in Llano. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today at Llano City Cemetery with Eugene Greer officiating. Arrangements by Waldrope-Hatfield-Hawthorne Funeral Home. Mr. Osbourn was born Sept. 3, 1909, in Llano and was a lifelong resident. He married Bette Marchand on April 4, 1936, in San Antonio. He had been an Elder of the Llano Church of Christ for many years and was a director of the board for Central Texas Electric Co-Op for many years. He also served as chairman of the board. He was a past president of the Llano Independent School Board. He was preceded in death by his parents, E.W. and Amy Osbourn; son, Doyle Osbourn; brother, Fred Osbourn; and sisters, Mildred Sawyer and Rita Camiade. Survivors include his wife, Bette Osbourn of Llano; sons, Lamar Osbourn and wife, Mimi, of Odessa, Gary Osbourn and wife, Jana, of Llano and Terry Osbourn and wife, Delana, of Cleburne; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Honorary pallbearers will be Britt Osbourn, Jeff Osbourn, Kenny Osbourn, Don Lee Osbourn, Royce Sawyer and Bart Freeman.
