Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 3, 2000, at the Tabernacle Baptist Church with the Rev. Lyndel Lee officiating. Burial will follow in the Crane County Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home of Crane. Carolyn was born Jan. 26, 1947, in Randolph County, Ark. She had been a resident of Crane County since 1989. She married Michael Paul Agee on Nov. 19, 1990, in Odessa. She was preceded in death by her father, Gail Jackson, May 19, 1999; and a sister, Lorene, Jan. 24, 1994. She is survived by her husband, Michael Paul Agee, of Crane; her mother, Cora Mae Jackson, of Pecos; son, Tracy Worster, of Denton; daughters, Tina Patterson of Odessa, Karen Quiroz and husband, Jorge, of Milton, Fla., Jennifer Melugin and husband, Patrick, of Pilot Point, Renee’ Agee of Van Nuys, Calif., and EIizabeth Agee of San Antonio; brother, Tommy Jackson of Pecos; sisters, Charlene Shaw of Pheonix, Margie Windham of Pecos, Maxine Garrett of Beaumont and Elaine Gray of Big Spring; grandchildren, Johnathan Quiroz of Milton, Fla., Rheannon Patterson and Caitlin Patterson, both of Odessa, Garrett Melugin and Cara Melugin of Pilot Point, Eric Worster and Aurora Worster, both of Denton and an unborn grandchild due in November. _________________________________________________________________ ODESSA — Bettie Jean Duren, 70, of Odessa passed away Sunday, April 30, 2000, at her residence. Mrs. Duren was born May 10, 1929, in Midland. She was the great-granddaughter of H. M. Garrett, one of the first pioneers to Midland and the Rankin family of Rankin. She married Roddy M. Duren on June 1, 1947, in Mullin. They moved from Goldthwaite to Odessa in 1962, where she had owned Busy Bee Ceramics for many years. She was preceded in death by her father, Horace Rankin Jr. She is survived by her husband, Roddy Duren, of Odessa; sons, Terry Lynn Duren of Palmdale, Calif., and Roy Dale Duren of Odessa; her mother, Opal Rankin, of Odessa; sister, Ann Spooner, of Odessa; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services are scheduled for 4 p.m. today, May 2, 2000, in the Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dick Brown officiating. Graveside services are scheduled for 3 p.m. Wednesday May 3, 2000, in Duren Cemetery in Mullin under the direction of Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. Services are entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. _________________________________________________________________ Mary Martha Coffield Gearhart MARFA — Mary Martha Coffield Gearhart, 79, died Sunday, April 30, 2000, at the Gearhart Ranch in Jeff Davis County. Memorial services at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 4, 2000, at First Presbyterian Church in Marfa with Dr. John Davenport officiating. Visitation will from 2 to 5 p.m. Tuesday, May 2, 2000, at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Marfa. Mrs. Gearhart was born June 16, 1920, on the Billingsley Ranch in Presidio County. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Coffield and granddaughter of pioneer ranchers, Mr. and Mrs. W.T. Jones. She graduated from Marfa High School and attended National Park College in Washington, D.C., and the University of Texas at Austin. She married Dr. Benjamin F. Gearhart Jr. July 19, 1941. Mary Martha Gearhart was a lifelong member of the First Presbyterian Church in Marfa. She sponsored the Youth Association of Bloys Campmeeting from 1960 to 1970, served as president of the Texas Presbyterian Synodical from 1970 to 1971, and was also president of the West of the Texas Pecos Cattlewomen for one term. In addition, Mrs. Gearhart was one of the founders of the Davis Mountains Trans-Pecos Heritage Association and an active member of the American Cattlewomen’s Association. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Dr. Benjamin F. Gearhart Jr. of Jeff Davis County; daughters, Martha Anne Gearhart of El Paso and Jessica and her husband, Bill McInnis of Ganado; a son and his wife, William Allen and Marsha Gearhart of Valentine; three grandchildren, Ben Mitchell McInnis and Rachel Coffield Mclnnis, both of Ganado, and Paul Brandon Gearhart of Valentine. Mrs. Gearhart’s life demonstrated an abiding love and compassion for her family, friends and others. She exhibited a deep and constant faith in her God and her church. She was a faithful steward of the land she loved so much. Her dignity, courage and faith have set an example for all those near her on the promise of God’s abiding love and grace. Memorials in her honor and memory may be made to the First Presbyterian Church (The Mary Martha Coffield Gearhart Sacred Music Fund), Marfa, Texas 79843; to the Bloys Campmeeting Association Fort Davis, TX 79734, or to the organization or charity of one’s choice. _________________________________________________________________ Minnie Cora Sanders GRAHAM — Minnie Cora Sanders, 82, of Weatherford passed away Sunday, April 30, 2000, at a Weatherford hospital. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 4, 2000, at Morrison Funeral Home Chapel with John Herington pastor of Springtown Road Church of Christ in Weatherford, officiating. Burial will follow in Pioneer Cemetery in Graham. Arrangements are under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home in Graham. Mrs. Sanders was born Oct. 19, 1917, in Loco, Okla., to the late Ephriam Robert and Amanda Ophilia Prichett Baggert. She married William Frank Sanders Dec. 2, 1977, in Seminole. He preceded her in death May 14, 1994. Mrs. Sanders was a retired registered nurse having worked the Memorial Hospital in Seminole and Medical Center Hospital in Odessa. She was a member of the Church of Christ. Survivors are her daughter, Sharron Simpson and husband, Lee, of Weatherford; son, Lanny Forman and wife, Emily, of Odessa; sister, Elva Sitton of Gentry, Ark.; four grandchildren, Larry Lynn Foreman, Angelia Michelle Dunlap and husband, Larry, Chayne Allen Haller and Shannon Dale Barber; and four great-grandchildren also survive. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society. _________________________________________________________________ ODESSA — Thomas Edward Inabnet, 70, of Odessa died Saturday, April 29, 2000, at Medical Center Hospital. He was born April 18, 1930, in Grosvenor, to William and Lois Inabnet. Mr. Inabnet served with the U.S. Army in Korea and was a petroleum engineer. He was a member of the Odessa Chuckwagon Gang, the American Legion and the Board of Directors for the Permian Basin Oil Show. He enjoyed yardwork, fishing, and was an avid sports fan and a member of Temple Baptist Church. Thomas was preceded in death by his son, John David Inabnet. He is survived by his fiancé, Dot Kelley; son, Thomas Dalton Inabnet of Arlington; his daughter, Deborah Inabnet Harper of Austin; stepchildren, Cindy Belew Weaver of Bedford, David Belew of Greenwood, Mike Belew of Garland, and Barry Belew of Midland; grandchildren, Sarah E. Inabnet; and stepgrandchildren, Jason Weaver, Erin Weaver, Zack Belew, Brenna Belew, Angie Belew and Laura Belew. Pallbearers will be Tommy Hall, Lynn Riggs, Don McBee, Jack Monzingo, Bill Trout and Wayne Dixon. Honorary pallbearers are the Odessa Chuck Wagon Gang, Bobby Scott and Ham Hamilton. Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 3, 2000, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. James Otterness officiating. Interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to hospice. _________________________________________________________________ Ethel Lucille Jarrett AUSTIN — Ethel Lucille Jarrett, 83, a longtime resident of West Texas and Austin, passed away Sunday, April 30, 2000, in Austin after a lengthy illness. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 2, 2000, at Cook-Walden Chapel of the Hills Funeral Home with Dr. Harold O’Chester officiating. Interment will follow in Cook-Walden Capital Parks Cemetery in Pflugerville. The widow of Wilbur S. Jarrett, a longtime employee of Gulf Oil Company in Penwell and Goldsmith, she moved to Austin in the mid ’90s following his death. After raising her three children in Penwell, Mrs. Jarrett moved to Odessa and worked several years as a sales person at J.C. Penney. She is survived by two daughters, Bobbie Moseley of Austin and Mrs. Billie Tierce of Odessa; son, Wilbur D. Jarrett of Dallas; and seven grandchildren. She also is survived by a brother and sisters in West and East Texas. Mrs. Jarrett was born in Shelby County, Texas, April 29, 1917, and moved in I934 to Ector County where her husband worked for Phillips Petroleum. She was a lifelong member of the Baptist Church, belonging to the Westside Baptist Church in Odessa and Great Hills Baptist Church in Austin. _________________________________________________________________ ODESSA — Carl Victor Maddoux, died Sunday, April 30, 2000, after a lengthy illness. Mr. Maddoux was born to Alberta Ashworth and John West Maddoux on the 27th day of August 1917, in the piney woods of Harris County. He moved to Odessa in 1951 and became the vocational agriculture teacher at Odessa High School for 35 years. Mr. Maddoux retired from teaching in 1988 and remained in Odessa during this time. He was the father of three children, Jerry Mark "Buddy" Maddoux, deceased; daughters, Lana "Sam" Narey of Lubbock and Carla L. Maddoux of Odessa. He also is survived by a former wife, Dean Maddoux of Lubbock; and two granddaughters, Elaine Cogburn and husband, Gary Cogburn, of Lubbock, and Lorrie Ault and husband, Steve Ault, of Loganville, Ga. He is also survived by three great granddaughters, Natanie Cogburn of Lubbock and Taryn and Taylor Ault of Loganville, Ga. Mr. Maddoux also is survived by the many, many students he taught over the years and will be missed greatly by family and friends alike. Services will be held at 2 p.m. today at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bill Heard officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Services entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. _________________________________________________________________ ODESSA — Johnnie Lee Walraven, 47, of Odessa passed away Saturday, April 29, 2000, at a local hospital, following a brief illness. He was born Nov. 24, 1952, in Ozona to Mildred and J.L. Walraven of Odessa. He moved to Odessa in 1963, where he attended school, graduating from Permian High School in 1971. He was a foreman with WFJ Drilling at the time of his death, and a member of Northside Baptist Church. He was a racecar enthusiast, building and racing cars. He is survived by his parents; brother, Donnie Walraven and wife, Brenda, of Odessa; sisters, Terrie Elliott and husband, Mike, of Odessa, Sherrie Reeves of Odessa and Irma Jean Steding and husband, Bo, of Tyler; daughters, Carrie Ann Walraven, Barbara Jean LaJoie of Augusta, Maine, and Kasey Lynn Walraven of Bridgeport; granddaughter, Katrina LaJoie of Augusta, Maine; four nieces, and two nephews. His grandparents, Lonnie and Ollie Walraven and Dee and Irma House, preceded him in death. Services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 2, 2000, at the Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Clydell Chapman officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Services are entrusted to Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. _________________________________________________________________ IRAAN — Gene White, 68, of Odessa died on Sunday, April 30, 2000, in the Pecos County Hospital in Iraan. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 2, 2000, in the Restland Cemetery with the Rev. Mike Wright officiating. Services are under the direction of Shaffer-Nichols Iraan Chapel. Gene was born May 23, 1931, in San Angelo. He had been a resident of Odessa for 12 years. Gene drove commercial trucks most of his young and adult life, starting at age 16. He was a bus driver for many years in Quemado, Texas. He currently was employed with Lee R. Enterprise out of Midland. He was a member of the Eagles Lodge, Odessa Chapter. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Marion Francis Hall and Jacqline Louise Ice; and stepfather, Donald E. Kimbrough. Gene is survived by his mother, Treva P. Kimbrough of Iraan; his father and stepmother, Robert "Bob" Curtis White and, Merlene, of Dallas; brothers, James Richard White and wife, Jimmie Dee, of Littlerock, Ark., and Billy Don Kimbrough and wife, Lavine, of Iraan; a sister, Sheila Cook and husband, Tom, of Iraan; and great companion and friend, Norma Horton of Odessa.
