May 04, 2000 Permian Basin Obituaries _________________________________________________________________ CRANE — Ethlyn "Little" Brooks Templeton, 80, passed away May 1, 2000, at the Crane Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Templeton was born March 14, 1920, in Yale, Okla. She married Wesley "Ed" Edwin Templeton on Nov. 13, 1940, in St. Louis, Mo. She was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith. Little, as she was known all her life, was enthusiastic about fishing and gardening. She loved the outdoors and spending time with her twin sister, "Big," and brother-in-law, Bob. She also loved being "Nanny" to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was loved by all and will be missed greatly by her family and friends. Little was preceded in death by her husband, Ed, who passed away March 25, 2000; and her parents, Alvin Brooks and Edith Cobble Brooks; and three brothers, Fred Brooks, Melvin Brooks and Pete Brooks. She is survived by her daughters, Ronnie Seale and her husband, Herman, of Sun City, Ariz., and Brenda Sharp and her husband, Leslie, of Crane; sisters, Evelyn "Big" Nix of Robert Lee and Edith May Adams of Brownfield. She also leaves behind five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. There will be a small private service with burial to follow at the Crane Memorial Cemetery in Crane. Arrangements conducted by Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home in Crane. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. _________________________________________________________________ John Michael "Mike" Simpson KERMIT — John Michael "Mike" Simpson of Albuquerque, N.M., a real estate broker, died Saturday, April 29, 2000, in Albuquerque. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. MST today, May 4, 2000, at the Kermit Cemetery in Kermit under the direction of Calvary Funeral Home of Eunice, N.M., with the Rev. Alan Speed pastor of Calvary Baptist Church of Jal, N.M., officiating. Michael was born Oct. 18, 1942, in Gorman. He graduated from Jal High School in 1962; and was a graduate of New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, N.M. Michael attended officers training school and became a 1st Lt. in the Army. Shortly after, he was sent to Vietnam and served during the Tet Offensive. He received two purple hearts and two bronze stars for valor during his tour of duty. Michael moved to California and began his career in real estate. He became a broker and worked in several cities in California. The last few years, he had to spend less time in the work he loved because of ill health. Michael was very outgoing and loved to be around people. He has numerous friends in California and New Mexi- co. He is survived by his mother, Creta Simpson of Jal, N.M.; sisters, Sherra Robison and her husband, Ray, of Albuquerque, N.M., and Malinda Clinton and her husband, Terry, of Gallup, N.M.; nieces, Teisha Clinton and Krista Clinton of Clovis, N.M.; nephew, Jason Robison and his wife, Jennifer, of Spokane, Wash.; and great-nephew, Chase Robison of Spokane, Wash. His father, Claud H. Simpson, preceded him in death in 1984. _________________________________________________________________ Sadie Bell Thompson ODESSA — Sadie Bell Thompson, 87 of Odessa died May 3, 2000, at Parks Methodist Retirement Vil- lage. She was born July 4, 1912, in Seymour. She married Steve Thompson in 1934 in Post. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, May 5, 2000, at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Rev. Herb Mims officiating. She moved to Odessa in the late 1940s from Forsan. She was a member of First Baptist Church and she loved to cook. She loved to travel and trips to Ruidoso, N.M. She is survived by her daughter, Judy Billingsley of Houston; sisters, Clodell Aven of Hart, Ruby Jones of Levelland, Lois Young of Grandpraire and Joyce Pebsworth of Tahoka; six grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
