May 12, 2000 Permian Basin Obituaries _________________________________________________________________ ODESSA — Helen Faye Balog, 60, passed away Wednesday, May 10, 2000, at her residence. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 13, 2000, at the Sunset Memorial Chapel with Dr. Craig Martindale officiating. Burial will then follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. She was born Oct. 27, 1939, in Seagraves to Earl and Minnie Sanders. Mrs. Balog was a homemaker and a long time resident of Pecos for 30 years. Helen was a Christian. She was a very talented artist and was a member of Pecos Art and Palette Club. Survivors include her husband, Stephen N. Balog of Pecos; son, Stephen N. Balog and his wife, Susan, of Plano; daughter, Kim Balog of Plano; sister, Margie Palmer of Odessa; and her grandchildren, Katie, Andrew, Liddy and Ginny Balog, all of Plano. The family asks that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society. Pallbearers are David Heath, Jerry Showalter, Billy Johnson, Steve Clark, Gary Ingram and J.C. White. Honorary Pallbearers are Clifford Adkins and Jimmy Brown. Services are entrusted to Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. _________________________________________________________________ Mable Daphine Lewis ODESSA — Mable Daphine Lewis, 75, of Austin died Wednesday, May 10, 2000 in Austin after a lengthy illness. She was born to Thomas W. and Clara Nix Orr, Jan. 11, 1925, in Bowie County. She married James E. Lewis May 25, 1943, and they moved to Odessa in 1948. She was a member of the First United Pentecostal Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, James, Nov. 7, 1993. Survivors include her family, Connie Frazier, Lee B. Goodman, Mary Thomason, Inette Bicknell and Kenneth Orr. She is also survived by 14 nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 13, 2000, at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Rev. Terry Pugh officiating. Arrangements by Frank W. She was born April 5, 1944, to John Buford and Nellie Ann Hitt Taylor in Levelland. She married Jerry Carl Davis Dec. 5, 1980, in Roswell, N.M. Mrs. Davis was a Realtor and a member of the Legacy Drive Baptist Church in Plano. She is survived by her husband, Jerry Davis of Plano; sons, Coby Norman and wife, Lisa, of Odessa, Craig Davis and wife, Toni, of Granbury; daughter, Rhonda Childress and husband, John, of Plano; Heather Davis of Tomball; four grandchildren; brother, Walter Taylor of Levelland. Funeral services will be at noon Saturday, May 13, 2000, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Chapel in McKinney with Dr. Gene Wilkes officiating. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in McKinney.
