May 16, 2000 Permian Basin Obituaries _________________________________________________________________ Bob W. Yates ODESSA — Bob W. Yates, 79, of Odessa passed away Sunday, May 14, 2000, at his home in Odessa. He was born March 27, 1921, in Brighton, Colo. Services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors Chapel. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Rev. Jimmy Braswell officiating. Mr. Yates served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He married Tillie Marie Yates Feb. 18, 1947, in Denver. They moved to Odessa in 1963 from Phoenix, Ariz. He was self-employed. Bob was a member of the Elks and Eagles Lodge, a past member of the Chuck Wagor Gang, a lifetime member of the VF.W. in Odessa and he was active in the Odessa Pool Players League. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marcus and Effie Yates; his wife, Tillie; and a sister, Maida Proctor. He is survived by daughters, Suzi Yates of Odessa, Marie Farington and husband, Joe, of Midland, Belda Edwards of Odessa and Bobby Yates of Bosier City, La.; brothers, Winton Yates of Odessa, Marcus P. Yates Jr. of Lodi, Calif., James Donald Yates of Stratton, Colo.; sisters, Barbara Jean Cooper of Northridge, Calif., Sandra Lee Stogsdill of Aurora, Colo., and Agene Eblen of San Angelo; and eighth grandchildren. McKinney, 73, of Odessa passed away Sunday, May 14, 2000, at his residence. Dr. McKinney was born Feb. 22, 1927, in Austin. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He graduated from Texas Christian University in 1950 and from Tulane Medical School in 1954. He married Patricia Palmer Oct. 29, 1955, in Menard and began his practice in Odessa in 1962. Dr. McKinney had served as head of the Anesthesia Department for Medical Center Hospital and was a member of the Ector County Medical Society. He is survived by his wife, Patricia McKinney of Odessa; son, James Robert McKinney III and his wife, Mary, of Houston; daughter, Alice McKinney Smith and her husband, Kevin, of Odessa: sister, Marian McKinney Morrow of Bethesda, Md.; niece, Dr. Lynn Morrow Logan of Bethesda, Md.; three grandchildren, Austin, Kaleb and Lainey Smith. Memorial services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 16, 2000, in the Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Don Fankhauser officiating. Services entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. _________________________________________________________________ James William Davis ODESSA — James William Davis, 74, of Odessa passed away Saturday, May 13, 2000, at his residence. He was born May 24, 1925, in Little Rock, Ark., to Grover Cleveland and Elsie Vera Davis. Services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 16, 2000, at the Sunset Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Dewey Blevins officiating. Burial will then follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Mr. Davis was a veteran of World War II and later worked in the oil industry as a tool pusher. He was a Baptist. He is survived by his wife, Oletha "Rena" Davis of Odessa; sons, James W. Davis Jr. and his wife, Sherry, of Odessa and Robert Dale Davis and wife, Stacy, of Irving; sisters, Vera Mandel of Pensacola, Fla., Garvis Cresswell of Jackson, Miss., Norma Yerg of Molino, Fla., Marie Jennings of Milton, Fla., and Louise Yerg of DeRidder, La.; grandchildren include Christina Kay, Cody David, Jarred Wayne Davis, Kristin Faith Story and Corey Jason Honeycutt; great-grandchildren are Rebecka Dawn Flanagan and Robert Harvey Wayne Koerner. Mr. Davis was preceded in death by his son, Kenneth Ray Davis in 1959. Services entrusted to Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
