May 24, 2000 Permian Basin Obituaries _________________________________________________________________ ODESSA — Arthur Lee Quigley, 77, of Odessa passed away Sunday, May 21, 2000, at his home in Odessa. He was born Nov. 11, 1922, in Grimes County. He married Vernice Hunter on July 14, 1986 in Odessa. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 26, 2000, at St. Matthew Baptist Church in Odessa with the Rev. Anthony C. Slack officiating. Interment will be at Rose Hill Cemetery. Mr. Quigley moved to Odessa in 1956 from Grimes County. He attended Prairieview A&M University. He was a lifetime member of V.F.W. He was a carpenter and liked to work on watches and play jokes on people. He is survived by his wife, Vernice Quigley, of Odessa; sons, Arthur Lee Quigley Jr. of California, Sammy Lee Quigley of Bosier City, La., and Anthony Quigley and John Ray Quigley, both of Odessa; daughters, Danea Penson of California, Melba Lee and Rosie Quigley, both of Austin, Georgia Quigley of Odessa; 16 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was born Feb. 25, 1927, in Mercedes, Texas. Before retiring, she worked as an licensed vocational nurse for Nurses Unlimited and Medical Center Hospital. Mrs. Rodriguez was preceded in death by her husband, Eluterio Rodriguez; son, Eddie Ray Rodriguez; father and mother, Julian and Maria Suarez; brother, Joe "Pepe" Suarez; grandsons, Larry Ronald Rodriguez and Jeffrey Tovar; and granddaughter, Amanda Evangeline Rodriguez. She is survived by sons, Larry Rodriguez and his wife, Lydia, of Odessa, Johnny Rodriguez of San Antonio, Ricky Rodriguez and wife, Gloria, of Odessa, Joe Robert Rodriguez and wife, Irma, of Odessa; and Ernest Rodriguez and wife, Carmen, of Houston; daughters, Esther Tovar of San Marcos, Mary Evangeline Santiago and husband, Eli, of Phoenix, Ariz.; brothers, Isidro Suarez of Poteet, Julian Suarez of Odessa and Pete Suarez of Houston; sisters, Manuela Cashion of San Antonio, Connie Gonzales of San Antonio, Susie Navarro of San Antonio, Irene Lopez of Del Rio, Martha Suarez of San Antonio and Bridget Laws of Odessa; 24 grandchildren; and 17 great grandchildren. Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 24, 2000, at 7 p.m. at Odessa Funeral Home Chapel. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Thursday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Mark Woodruff officiating. Burial will follow at Odessa Cemetery.
