May 25, 2000 Permian Basin Obituaries _________________________________________________________________ ODESSA — Mary Lou "Maria" Rodriguez, 73, passed away May 23, 2000, at Medical Center Hospital. She was born Feb. 25, 1927, in Mercedes, Texas. Before retiring she worked as a licensed vocational nurse for Nurses Unlimited and Medical Center Hospital. Mrs. Rodriguez was preceded in death by her husband, Eluterio Rodriguez; son, Eddie Ray Rodriguez; father and mother, Julian and Maria Suarez; brother, Joe "Pepe" Suarez; grandsons, Larry Ronald Rodriguez and Jeffrey Tovar; and granddaughter, Amanda Evangeline Rodriguez. She is survived by sons, Larry Rodriguez and his wife, Lydia, of Odessa, Johnny Rodriguez of San Antonio, Ricky Rodriguez and wife, Gloria, of Odessa, Joe Robert Rodriguez and wife, Irma, of Odessa; and Ernest Rodriguez and wife, Carmen, of Houston; daughters, Esther Tovar of San Marcos, Mary Evangeline Santiago and husband, Eli, of Phoenix, Ariz.; brothers, Isidro Suarez of Poteet, Julian Suarez of Odessa and Pete Suarez of Houston; sisters, Manuela Cashion of San Antonio, Connie Gonzales of San Antonio, Susie Navarro of San Antonio, Irene Lopez of Del Rio, Martha Suarez of San Antonio and Bridget Laws of Odessa; 24 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 24, 2000, at 7 p.m. at Odessa Funeral Home Chapel. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Thursday at St. Joseph‘s Catholic Church with the Rev. Mark Woodruff officiating. Burial will follow at Odessa Cemetery. Her grandsons will be designated as pallbearers. Services by Odessa Funeral Home. _________________________________________________________________ Gerel Devene "Geri" Hartman ODESSA — Gerel Devene "Geri" Hartman joined her heavenly father Monday, May 22, 2000. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Arrangements by the family. Mrs. Hartman was born Oct. 16, 1933, in Bell County, Texas. She was Catholic. She was preceded in death by a son, Gary Dale Hartman. Survivors include her mother, Margaret Cosper of Temple; sister, Margaret Smith of Odessa; brother, Bill Truelove of Moffat; sister, Loretta Meyer of Carlsbad, N.M.; son, Mike Hartman and his wife, Jo Ann, of Odessa; daughter-in-law, Nancy Hartman of Carlsbad; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
