May 30, 2000 Permian Basin Obituaries _________________________________________________________________ Daniel Glenn Ratliff ODESSA Daniel Glenn Ratliff, 52, of Odessa passed away Saturday, May 27, 2000, in a local hospital. Mr. Ratliff was born March 25, 1948, in Odessa and had been a lifelong resident. He married Jimmie Bracken on Jan. 5, 1972, in Odessa. He was a longtime member of Highland United Methodist Church and had worked for Saulsbury Industries as a CAD computer operator. He is survived by his wife, Jimmie Ratliff of Odessa; one son, Jerry Webb of Carrollton; two daughters, Tonya Salter and Tina Frost, both of Odessa; one brother, W.E. Dub: Ratliff, and his wife, Rita, of Fort Worth; seven grandchildren; his aunt, Beth Rogers, of Andrews; two nephews, Ryan and Nick Ratliff of Fort Worth; and a niece, Courtney Ratliff of Fort Worth. Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. today, May 30, 2000, in the Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Johann Neethling officiating. Interment will follow in the Sunset Memorial Gardens under the direction of Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. _________________________________________________________________ Carl Pinkie T. Freitag MERTZON Carl Pinkie T. Freitag, 63, of Mertzon died Sunday, May 28, 2000 at his residence. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 31, 2000, at the Mertzon Cemetery with the Rev. Jeffery Lee of the First Baptist Church of Mertzon officiating. Arrangements by Johnsons Funeral Home. Pinkie was born March 19, 1937, in Uvalde to Louis and Lena Brister Freitag. He married Sharron Lynette Ayers on Jan. 14, 1961. He worked for Conoco Gas Plant in Mertzon for 33 years. Pinkie was a member of First Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Louise Duncan. Survivors include his wife, Sharron Freitag of Mertzon; son, James Lynn Freitag and wife, Janice, of Monahans; two daughters, Janice Douglas and husband, Don, of Mertzon, and Lisa St. Clair and husband, Steve, of Kerrville; grandchildren, Mandy, Will, Jennifer and Taylor of Mertzon, Kaitlyn and Quinton of Monahans, and Dan, Cody, Jamie and Staci of Kerrville; brother, Howard Freitag and wife, Geneva, of Mertzon; sister, Donna F. Laster of Hobbs, New Mexico; brother-in-law, Melvin Duncan, of McCamey and cousin, Sam Baze and wife, Nonie, of San Angelo. Pallbearers will be J.D. Parker, Eddie Martin, Bobby Masters, Sam Baze, Leigh Harkey, Max Tankersly, Harvey Flores and Wayne Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Knox, Wally Harkey, Wayne Baxter, Bill Freitag Jr., Randy Abbey, Carl McCollum, Richard McComb, Randy Hudgins, Morris Grice, Dennis Mendiola, Montie Frazier, Bub Bailey, Buck Baze, Doug Rainey and Bill Mauldin. Pinkie was a loving husband, father and Papaw. He was always willing to help and share with anyone in need. His philosophy of enjoying every day and helping others to do the same was ever present. His smile was like sunshine breaking through the clouds. Pinkie wanted friends and family to find comfort in knowing that everything I ever wanted to do in life, Ive done. There will never be another that can fill his shoes, but for those whom he loved, the love and memories will live forever. We would like to thank Shannon Medical Center, Dr. LeGrand and Dr. Denver Marsh. We also would like to thank Vista Care Family Hospice for their wonderful care and Dr. Vicki Forlano for her care of Pinkie and the family. We are grateful to the Schleicher County Medical Center and Dr. Sloan for the kind and loving care they gave Pinkie. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., today at Stewart Funeral Chapel of Hollis, Okla. Burial will follow at Independence Cemetery. William Newell Oxford was born March 17, 1911, in Nocona, Texas, to Robert William and Bessie McHam Oxford. He married Suda Ella Hughes on Nov. 13, 1933, in Hollis, Okla. Mr. Oxford worked for the Davis Gin Co. of Altus, Okla. for 28 years. Newell raised his family and farmed in the Madge and Vinson, Okla. area. He retired from the Antioch, California School District in 1976 and moved back to Wellington, Texas. In 1988, he moved to Odessa and finally to Breckenridge to be near his children. Mr. Oxford is survived by five sons, Claud of Wasilla, Alaska, Homer of Portland, Ore., Marian and Jack of Breckenridge, Texas, and Shannon of Lodi, Calif.; two daughters, Bernadette Littlefield of Breckenridge, Texas, and Linda Noble of McKinney, Texas; one brother, Robert McHam Oxford of Walters, Okla.; one sister, Boothe Lee of Bakersfield, Calif.; twenty-two grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Oxford was preceded in death by his wife, Suda, in 1988; three sons, Bert, Johnnylee and Roy; and two daughters, Rhoda and Nina Marie. _________________________________________________________________ MIDLAND Eric Snow was born June 10, 1973, in Midland, Texas, to Mike and Cheryl G. (Jenkins) Snow. Eric married Cristal Garner in Midland on May 23, 1992. He was employed with American Glass. Eric attended the Assembly in Christ Church. After a valiant three-year fight against cancer, he went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, May, 28, 2000. Eric is survived by his wife, Crystal Snow, of Midland; his children, Brandon Tyler Snow, 3, Summer Nicole Snow, 4, and Erica Faith Snow, 1, all of Midland; his parents, Mike and Cheryl Snow of Midland; his brothers, Joshua Snow, of Kill Devil Hills, N.C., and Joseph Snow of Midland; and his sisters, April Helton of Macon, Ga., and Rebekah Snow of Midland. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Ellis Funeral Home. Funeral services have been scheduled for 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 31, in the Ellis Chapel with Pastor Betty McNerlin, Pastor Steven Calley and the Rev. Terry Ohlmann officiating. Interment will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home. Serving as pallbearers will be Josh Snow, Patrick Smith, Joseph Snow, Daniel Garner, Trey Todd and T.J. Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be David Snow, Richard Smith and Chris Cogburn.
