Chloe went home to be with her Lord on Thursday, June 15, 2000, after a long and sharing life. She married B. Claude Shinn on June 1, 1930, and they had two sons. Chloe was a devoted wife and mother who always placed the needs and welfare of her family first. Claude preceded her in death in 1976. She earned her master of education degree in counseling in 1951. The same year, she became the first certified counselor in the state of Oklahoma, later training the other counselors as they came into the field. She worked in the public-school system in Oklahoma City for 30 years, most of those at Harding junior and senior high schools. Many of the innovations she originated while in the Oklahoma City school system are still in evidence today. She was one of only two counselors in the state of Oklahoma to be invited to share at a conference on counseling at M.I.T. Chloe moved to Odessa in 1984, entering a life of volunteerism with the Hospital Auxiliary, the Presidential Museum, the Art Museum, and Tuesday Morning Music and Arts until her illness limited her activity. This wonderful lady has given guidance and served as a role model and example to countless numbers of students on their journey through life. Chloe is survived by her sisters, Opal Bowlware of Austin and Peggy Thornton of Midwest City, Okla. She has left a legacy of two sons and their wives, Donald Claude and wife, Barbara, of Odessa and Robert Allen and wife, Lyn, of Coronado, Calif.; four grandchildren, Victoria Jane Shinn Chandler and husband, David, of Spencerport, N.Y., Terry Don Shinn and wife, Janet, of Yukon, Okla., George Shinn and wife, Sydney, and Robert Clay Shinn of San Diego, Calif.; five great-grandchildren, Jason Chandler, Parker Shinn, Travis Shade Shinn, Tanner Don Shinn and Conner Shinn. Those persons fortunate enough to have shared a part of their lives with Chloe Moore Shinn have shared the calm and the storms and found, as she had, "You Never Walk Alone." Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Oklahoma City. Arrangements by Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.
