June 21, 2000 Permian Basin Obituaries _________________________________________________________________ ODESSA -- Services for Mahoata Lee Bagley, 67, of Odessa, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 22, 2000, at the Sunset Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Don Fankhauser officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Bagley died Tuesday, June 20, 2000, at Medical Center Hospital. She was born June 11, 1933, in Tahoka to Lester and Loretta Green. She married Bill Bagley on Oct. 2, 1948, She was a beautician for more than 20 years and also worked in real estate. Survivors include her husband, Bill Bagley of Odessa; a son, Pat Bagley of Odessa; daughters, Teresa Bagley of Ledbetter and Terry Snell of Jasper; her sisters, Betty Haywood of Irving, Susie Kinserlow of Lubbock and Robbie Nixon of Yucaipa, Calif.; five grandsons; and one granddaughter. She was preceded in death by a grandson; and her brother, Earl Green. Services are under the care of Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. _________________________________________________________________ MELROSE, Fla. -- Gaye Lynn Howie Hanks, 41, of Melrose, Fla., died Tuesday, June 13, 2000, at her residence. Graveside services were held Saturday, June 17, 2000, at Eliam Cemetery with the Rev. George Katzman officiating. Arrangements were under the care of Morning Funeral Home of Melrose. She was born in Odessa and moved to Melrose, Fla., in 1982. She attended Odessa High School. She was a sales clerk for Wal-Mart. Survivors include her husband, Joseph Hanks of Melrose, Fla.; daughter, Chastity Hanks of Melrose; sons, Jeremy Bolton, Jacob Hanks and Michael Paul Hanks, all of Melrose; mother and stepfather, Jerry and Judy Kate Branecky of Odessa; brothers, Jerry Don Branecky of Odessa and Cary Branecky of Grand Prairie; sisters, Pat Rutledge of Houston, Mitzi Scheible and Cindi Green, both of Odessa, and Debbie Selby of Mesquite. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of North Central Florida. _________________________________________________________________ ODESSA -- Donald Lynn Howell, 49, of Midland passed away Monday, June 19, 2000. He was born June 29, 1950, in Houston to Dewey and Mavis Howell. He married Debi Nelson on Aug. 25, 1995, in Austin. Mr. Howell worked as an insulator contractor. Donald was a very avid pool player. Mr. Howell is survived by his wife, Debi Howell of Midland; sons, Donald Howell Jr. and his wife, Alicia, of Tulsa, Okla.; stepson, Jason Caldwell of Austin; daughters, Tina Howell of Tulsa, Okla., and Lacy Howell of Midland; stepdaughter, Stacy Moore of Ravenna, Ohio; mother, Mavis Howell of Odessa; brothers, Billy Howell of Odessa, Jerry Howell of Comstock and Dewey Howell Jr. of New Ibieria, La.; sister, Hattie Taliaferro of Brownwood; and four grandchildren. Mr. Howell was preceded in death by his father, Dewey Howell in 1992; and brother, Doyle Howell. Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday, June 22, 2000, at the Sunset Memorial Chapel with the Rev. William Chapman officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Services are under the care of Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. _________________________________________________________________ ODESSA -- William Boyd "Bill" Johnson, 52, of Odessa died Monday, June 19, 2000, at Medical Center Hospital. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 22, 2000, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Kevin Strempke officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. The family will meet with friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, June 21, 2000, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel. He was born May 6, 1948, in Odessa. Mr. Johnson was a lifelong resident of Odessa. He was a 1966 graduate of Permian High School. He was a truck driver for Nalco/Exxon Energy Chemicals for 20 years before his retirement. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and being with his family and friends. He was a Methodist. He was a member of the Andy G. Vaughn Masonic Lodge. Survivors include his sons, Michael Johnson and Don Johnson, both of Odessa; mother, Charlotte Johnson of Odessa; brothers, Bob Johnson of Pueblo, Colo., and his sons, Ben, Adam and Andrew Johnson; sister, Rebecca Ann Parker of Lake Charles, La., and her son, Daniel Parker.
