June 24, 2000 Permian Basin Obituaries _________________________________________________________________ ODESSA Dortha Elyn Hollingworth, 76, passed away Thursday, June 22, 2000, at Medical Center Hospital. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 24, 2000, at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Ernest Easley officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Funeral arrangements by Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors. Miss Hollingworth was born April 10, 1924, in Corsicana, Texas, to the late Ray O. and Pearl Murdock Hollingworth. "Dot" graduated from Iraan High School in 1941 receiving an award for 12 years of perfect attendance in the Iraan School System. She graduated from Texas Womens University in 1945, received a masters degree in 1960 from Sul Ross University. She taught in the Ector County School District 35 years, serving as elementary music teacher, junior high choral director and secondary counselor. She retired in 1984. Dot was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, Texas Music Educators Association, Texas State Teachers Association, National Education Association and Classroom Teachers Association. She was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church and the Medical Center Hospital Auxiliary where she was known to make the best popcorn in town. She is survived by her best friend, Dorothy E. Prince; her brother and sister-in-law, Ramon J. and Virginia Hollingworth of Little Rock, Ark.; her niece and nephew, Hal Hollingworth and Raellyn Cockerham, also of Little Rock; cousins, Marianne Settles Melton of Minneapolis, Minn., Joe Dan Settles and Tim Settles of Ratliff City, Okla.; uncle and aunt, Dan and Lucille Settles of Duncan, Okla.; and dear friends which are too numerous to mention. The family suggests memorials to Harp Fund or Music Department of First Baptist Church.
