June 29, 2000 Permian Basin Obituaries _________________________________________________________________ Retired Police Corporal, Con Olin Brazeal, 60, of Odessa passed away Tuesday, June 27, 2000, in Ft. Worth. He was born November 22, 1939, to Max and Bessie Brazeal in Fort Worth. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, June 30, 2000, at Temple Baptist Church with the Rev. Jerry Thorpe officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. The family will receive visitors 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Mr. Brazeal was a kind, devoted and generous man whose smile touched everyone he met. Con was a loyal and dedicated public servant of the citizens of Odessa and the Law Enforcement community. Prior to joining the Odessa Police Department Con was a Police Chief in Nogales, Arizona. Mr. Brazeal was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police. When Con was not on duty as a Public Servant he was an avid fisherman and a devoted family man. On July l0, 1998, Con married Paula Miller in Eunice, New Mexico. With his soul mate and his children by his side Con radiated love that every one could see. Mr. Brazeal was preceded in death by his parents, older brother Paul and twin brother Don. Con is survived by his wife, Paula Brazeal of Odessa; sons, Con Brazeal Jr., Christopher Brazeal and step-son Jared Roach all of Odessa; daughter, Jessica Brazeal and step-daughter, Amanda Roach both of Odessa; brother, Ricky Brazeal of Ft. Worth and sister, Delores Utley of Ft. Worth and Maxine Allison of Ft. Worth. Pallbearers will be: Ron lnge, J.D. Holloway, J.D. Wingrove, Harold Salmon, Steve Hendrix and Rick Pippins. Honorary Pallbearers are Richard Hirst, Dan High, Fred Price and Dan Burns. Service arrangements are under the care of Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. _________________________________________________________________ ODESSA Mass for Irene Deuschle, 99, of Odessa will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church with Father Frank Chavez officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. Mrs. Deuschle died Tuesday, June 27, 2000, at Medical Center Hospital. She was born May 26, 1901, in Germany. She was preceded in death by her husband William Deuschle. Mrs. Deuschle moved to Odessa in 1983 from Florida. She worked as a housekeeper for many years in Brooklyn, N.Y., and later in Florida. She was Catholic. She had a great sense of humor and loved children. Survivors include a son, Albert Lavine and wife Angelina of Odessa; a son, Howard Lavine of Brooklyn, N.Y.; a daughter, Doris Trombetta of Valley Stream, N.Y.; 12 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. Services entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. _________________________________________________________________ ODESSA Services for Clifford Lyle Martz, 84, of Odessa are scheduled for 3 p.m. Friday at Hubbard-Kelly Chapel with the Rev. Danny Willis officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Mr. Martz died Wednesday, June 28, 2000, at Medical Center Hospital from a lengthy illness. He was born September 25, 1915, in Perkins, Okla. He married Lorene Pickering on March 10, 1937, in Ada, Okla. He was preceded in death by his parents, L.O. and Rena Mae Martz and three brothers. Mr. Martz moved to Odessa in 1940. He was a retired driller in the oilfield. He was a member of the McFarland Masonic Lodge and Terrace Hills Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Lorene Martz, of Odessa; a son, Michael C. Martz of Canyon Lake; daughters, Kay Martz McKinney of Dallas and Janet Martz Evans and husband Brian of Richardson; sisters, Laura Martz Harris of Eunice, La., and Iva Martz Hubbard of San Jose, Calif.; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. The family suggest memorials to Terrace Hills Baptist Church, Odessa, Tx. Services entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. _________________________________________________________________ Annie Laurie (Howard) McCarroll GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. Annie Laurie (Howard) McCarroll, 78, died June 27, 2000, at the home of her daughter in Grand Junction, Colorado. Memorial services will be conducted at American Lutheran Church on Thursday, June 29 at 10 a.m. Graveside services will be conducted on July 2 at 2 p.m. at the Merkel (Texas) Cemetery. She was born October 4, 1921, to Lytton Brewer Howard and Beulah Burkett Howard in Abilene, Texas. She spent her childhood in Texas. She was a 1939 graduate of Stephenville High School and attended Tarleton State University and Hardin Simmons University where she studied fine arts. She was retired from Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Texas, where she served as sorority advisor for 14 years. She was a member of the American Lutheran Church in Grand Junction and a former member of Crescent Park Baptist Church in Odessa, Texas. She lived in Odessa from 1987 until 1998 when she moved to Grand Junction. She was involved in many church activities, volunteered her time at nursing homes, and was a long-time volunteer at the Ellen Noel Art Museum of the Permian Basin in Odessa. She enjoyed the arts, needlepoint, antiques and gardening. Survivors include: one sister, Mary Mays of Waco, Texas; one daughter, Nancy Ann McCarroll and son-in-law, Gene Kinsey with whom she lived the last months of her life, two sons, Charles Howard McCarroll of College Station, Texas, and John Burkett McCarroll of Georgetown, Texas. Eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren also survive her. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Grand Valley, Grand Junction, Colorado. Arrangements are under the direction of Callahan-Edfast Mortuary. _________________________________________________________________ Mary Inez Steward ODESSA Mary Inez Steward, 86, was born June 30, 1913, and passed away Monday, June 26, 2000. She was a native of Texas, born and raised in Rockwood before moving to Odessa, where she lived for 36 years, retiring from Midland Memorial Hospital. She has resided in Alvin since 1993. She is survived by four children, Raymond Steward and wife, Louise, of Odessa, Jay Steward and wife, Chelly, of Odessa, Mickey Todd of Pearland and Deborah Harrington of Dallas. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Estaleen Steward of Mozelle; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 28, 2000, at Oakpark Funeral Home in Alvin and from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 29, 2000, at Stevens Funeral Home in Coleman.
