July 04, 2000 Permian Basin Obituaries _________________________________________________________________ ODESSA Donald G. Slusher, 66, of Odessa died Friday, June 30, 2000, at his residence. He was born March 26, 1934, in Enid, Okla., and was raised in Tucumcari, N.M., where he met and later married Jeaninne Hargrove May 29, 1956. In 1962 they moved to Odessa where Don worked as a chemist for El Paso Products until his retirement in 1993. He then started CommWest Paging in 1994 then branched into DMJ Communications which he co-owned with his children. He was a member of Northeast Church of Christ. Jeaninne died Nov. 15, 1998. On June 10th of this year, Don married Paula Irene Hanes. Don was a very compassionate, loving person, friend, Dad, Grandpa, and husband. Survivors include his wife, Paula of Odessa; sons and daughter-in-law, David and Rhonda Slusher of Odessa and Mark Slusher of Lubbock; daughter and son-in-law, Julie and Paul Hooper of Odessa; brothers, Waldo and Delmar Slusher; and sister, Vera Hendricks all of Hanford, Calif. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Melissa Slusher, Blake Slusher, Valorie Slusher, Eric Slusher, Chase Hooper, and Tanner Hooper. Other survivors include Paulas children, Kim and Scott Miller and their daughter, Abi, of Belton, and Gary and Kim Hanes of Arlington; and Jeaninnes parents, Homer and Pinkie Hargrove of Odessa. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 5, 2000, in the chapel of Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors with Jeff Trahan officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Ansley, 78, of Odessa passed away Sunday, July 2, 2000, at her residence. Mrs. Ansley was born Dec. 7, 1921, in Duncan, Ariz. She married J. H. Ansley Nov. 18, 1944, in Artesia, N.M. She met him while attending New Mexico State Teachers College in Silver City, N.M. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1976 and also preceded by her eldest son, Steven Ansley, in 1980. Eunice was an avid seamstress and gardener, as well as a devoted wife and dedicated mother and grandmother. She was a very loyal, sincere and generous friend to all who knew her and will be missed by many. Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 5, 2000, at the Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Jimmy Braswell officiating. Burial will follow at 4 p.m. Mountain Standard Time at Twin Oaks Memorial Park in Artesia, N.M. Mrs. Ansley is survived by her sons, Jack Ansley and wife, Janet, of Odessa, and Jim Ansley and wife, Carole, of Katy, Texas; her brother, Dee Nunn of Alabama; and seven grandchildren, Karen and Darren Byrd, Jason Johns and Jocelyn, Colby, Alexandra and Juliana Ansley. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. The family requests memorials be made to Home Hospice, 516 N. Texas Ave., Odessa, Texas, 79761. _________________________________________________________________ ODESSA Billie Linn Wright, 83, of Odessa died July 3, 2000, at Medical Center Hospital. She was born Nov. 4, 1916, in Midway. She married Raymond E. Wright in January 1972, in Odessa. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 5, 2000, at Mission Dorado Baptist Church with Rev. Bob Bratcher officiating. Interment will follow at 3 p.m. at Denver City Cemetery. She moved to Odessa in 1969 from Denver City. She was a retired nurse, employed from Medical Center Hospital. She loved to cook and collect bells and rocks. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Wright in July, 1992. Mr. Wright was a P.O.W. Mrs. Wright is survived by daughters, Kay Hood of Odessa, Ollie Chandler of Claude and Mariann Caines of Lubbock; sons, Art Linn of Eugene, Ore., and Phillip Linn of Odessa; 14 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and sister, Pauline Bains of Odessa.
