July 14, 2000 Permian Basin Obituaries _________________________________________________________________ Willie Lee "Bill" Wilson ODESSA Willie Lee "Bill" Wilson, 72, of Odessa, passed away Wednesday, July 12, 2000, at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa. He was born in Purdon on May 7, 1928, to Jonus Murphy and Rhoda White-Wilson. He served in the U.S. Navy from April 10, 1946, to Jan. 13, 1948, serving most of his term at NAS Ford Island, Hawaii, where he worked as an aviation mechanic. He attained the rank of seaman first class. He married Eula Nell Norton on May 22, 1948, in Waxahachie and had four children. He worked most of his life as a rock bit retipper and was known as one of the best in his trade. He began his career with Varel Manufacturing Company in Dallas. Later, he worked for Walker McDonald Bit Company at several locations and then retired while working for WFJ Drilling Tools Inc. in Odessa. His wife, Eula Nell, preceded him in death on Aug. 3, 1993. He is survived by his son, Jack Wilson of Odessa; daughters and sons-in-law, Peggy and John Link of Odessa and Darlene and Dennis Sarrell of Hobbs, N.M.; son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Corina Wilson of Odessa; brothers, James, Larry and Roger Wilson, all living in East Texas; sisters, Ruth Judge, Linda Armour and Kathy Bennett, all of East Texas; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 15, 2000, at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Pastor Bill Counts of Tabernacle Baptist Church officiating. Arrangements are by Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. _________________________________________________________________ George Dale Gann LUBBOCK George Dale Gann, age 48, of Odessa, died July 12, 2000, at Medical Center Hospital. Memorial services will be at noon today in Lubbock at the home of his maternal grandmother, Mildred E. Franklin. George was born Jan. 15, 1952, in Snyder to George and Betty Gann. He graduated from Coronado High School in Lubbock and attended Odessa College. He worked for Blue Cross/Blue Shield for 10 years in Los Angeles as a billing supervisor. Survivors include his mother, Betty Miller of Odessa; his brother, Robert Louis Gann of Houston; and his sisters, Gale Kerr and Pamela Denise Kincaid both of Odessa.
