July 21, 2000 Permian Basin Obituaries _________________________________________________________________ Truman "Harold" Birdwell ODESSA Truman "Harold" Birdwell, 72, of Odessa, passed away peacefully with his family by his side, July 19, 2000, at Medical Center Hospital. He was born Oct. 22, 1927, in Hurlwood. He married Della Deloris Garrett June 9, 1956, at First Baptist Church in Roseburg, Ore. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday July 22, 2000, at Frank W. Wilson Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Johnny Dickerson officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Mr. Birdwell was a Navy veteran of World War II. He moved to Odessa in 1957 from Roseburg, Ore. He was employed by General Tire Company for 32 years. He liked to tinker and rebuild old tractors and cars. He also liked to fish, hunt, work in the yard and enjoyed their lake house in Brownwood. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clive and Doshia Birdwell; and a sister, Gladys Abernethy. Mr. Birdwell is survived by his wife, Deloris Birdwell of Odessa; daughters, Ronda Harlene Thomas and Vanda Gail Dickson and husband, Ronnie, all of Odessa; granddaughter, Ava Nicole Thomas of Lewisville; grandson, Sean Addison Thomas of Odessa; brothers, Willard Birdwell and wife, Pat, of Ponca City, Okla., Lyndon Birdwell and wife, Wilma, of Oklahoma City and Jerry Birdwell and wife, Carroll, of Fort Worth; sister, Mary Sunderland and husband, Neil, of Garland; and numerous nieces and nephews. ODESSA Billy Weldon "Willie" Robinson, 69, of Odessa died Tuesday, July 18, 2000, at Veterans Hospital in Big Spring. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, July 24, 2000, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Chapel. Burial will be Tuesday at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery in Dallas. He was born March 15, 1931, in Portales, N.M. Mr. Robinson moved to Odessa in the 1960s from Hobbs, N.M. He worked in the oilfield most of his life. He was Baptist. Survivors include his daughter, Susan Woodard of Odessa; and four grandchildren, Benjamin and Brandie Woodard, Jennafer and Shelby Tomlinson.
