August 01, 2000 Permian Basin Obituaries _________________________________________________________________ Charles Floyd Cox BAYTOWN Charles F. Cox, 57, of Deer Park, died Saturday, July 29, 2000, in Baytown after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born Sept. 22, 1942, in Houston. He was the son of Charles Byron and Esta Mae Cox. Charlie graduated from San Angelo High School in the early 60s and went into the Navy for several years. Once he came out of the Navy, he served the Harris County Sheriffs Department for seven years before going to Huntsville to work as a prison guard for several years. In the late 70s, he went into the air-conditioning business and in the early 90s, he started his own air-conditioning business. He will be deeply missed by all of his friends and family. Charlie is survived by his wife, Kelley D. Cox of Deer Park; daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy and George Leikam of Cypress and Karen and George Morris of Austin; son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Paula Cox of Flower Mound; and three grandchildren, Joshua Leikam and wife Becky, Amanda Leikam and Thomas Martin. For those desiring, memorials may be sent to: Charlie Cox Memorial Fund, c/o Sydney Seaman, 7431 Logging Trail, Humble, Texas, 77346. A memorial service will be held at noon Wednesday at Earthman Funeral Home Chapel, 3919 Garth Road, with the Rev. Ed Weatherly officiating. Interment will be at Houston National Cemetery. _________________________________________________________________ Geraldine Hubbard KERMIT After a long and courageous battle with Parkinsons Disease, Geraldine "Jerry" Hubbard went to be with the Lord July 31, 2000, at the age of 77. Mrs. Hubbard passed away peacefully at her home. She was born Dec. 16, 1922, to William and Mattie Wade in Hartshorne, Okla. She married Herbert "Hub" F. Hubbard Aug. 17, 1940, in Wewoka, Okla. They moved to Kermit in 1945 where they raised their three children. Jerry was a homemaker who enjoyed baking, sewing and crochet. She enjoyed traveling and fishing before she became limited. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Kermit. In 1996, she and Hub moved to Midland to be closer to their children. Jerry is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Hub Hubbard; three children, Johnny Hubbard and his wife, Debra, of Amarillo, Gerald Hubbard and his wife, Christine, of Midland, and Kathy Barrett of Midland; one sister, Ernestine Brown of Las Vegas; seven grandchildren, Marty Barrett and his wife, Shannon, of Midland, Carl Hubbard of Dallas, Donnie Hubbard and his wife, Stacy, of Arkansas; Juleigh Hubbard of Amarillo, Russell Hubbard of Colorado, Karen Hubbard of Midland and Sybil Hamilton of Midland. She is also survived by seven great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2000, at First Baptist Church in Kermit with burial following at Kermit Cemetery. Mrs. Hubbard will lie in state at First Baptist Church in Kermit from 10 a.m. until service time. Arrangements are under the direction of Pipkin Funeral Home in Midland.
