August 03, 2000 Permian Basin Obituaries _________________________________________________________________ ODESSA Joseph Duane Cakl Deutsch was born May 23, 1968, in Lovington, N.M. He moved to Odessa at 2 months and has lived here since. He passed away Aug. 1, 2000, near Monahans. Services are scheduled for 3 p.m. Friday, August 4, 2000, at the Sunset Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Laura Deaderick of St. Johns Episcopal Church officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Survivors include his wife, Janie; three daughters, Cassie, Alyssa and Brittney, all of Odessa; his mother, Jan Cakl of Odessa; brother, Ross Cakl of Odessa and his wife, Jackie; sister, Susan Cakl of Humble; grandmother, Katy Rotan of Odessa; uncle, Ben Rotan of Austin; sisters-in-law, Marie E. Bonilla and husband, Marcos, Angelica Hermosillo and husband, Socorro, Maria J. Olivas and husband, Hector, and Laura Hermosillo and husband, Vicente, all of Odessa; brother-in-law, Martin Garcia and wife, Maria, of Lovington; mother-in-law, Gregoria Corrujedo of Gruver; and his father-in-law, David Garcia of Odessa. Joseph lived for his family and had the greatest time of his life taking his girls to soccer games and just loving them. He had many friends and was loved by everyone and will be missed so very much. Pallbearers will be Socorro Hermosillo, Hector Olivas, Ross Cakl, Joey Narbaez, Kenny Ray Biggerstaff and Ben Rotan. Services are under the care of Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. _________________________________________________________________ ODESSA Ethel Pauline Buecker Burnett, 68, of Odessa, died Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2000, at her residence. She was born in Weverton, Md., March 19, 1932, to Edgar Virts and Blanche Coffman. She had been a resident of Odessa since 1973. She was a member of the Moose Chapter 1456. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Martinez Funeral Home. Viewing will be today from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. She was preceded in death by her mother and father; a son, David Lynn Buecker; and two grandchildren. Survivors include sons, Les Buecker of Austin and Merv Buecker of Hobbs, N.M.; daughters, Paula Bunce and Lori Cuellar and Nita Marrero, all of Odessa, and Lisa Stanton of Tarpon Springs, Fla.; 19 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. _________________________________________________________________ ODESSA Pauline Richardson was born March 10, 1929, in Oklahoma. She passed away and went to be with the Lord Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2000, at her residence. Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday at the Parkview Church of Christ with Charles Jones and Joe Cross officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Pauline came to Odessa at an early age. She married Woody Richardson Aug. 1, 1946, in Odessa. She was a longtime member of the Parkview Church of Christ. Mrs. Richardson was employed with Cobbs Department Store for 15 years. She was a devoted wife and mother and was a creative and very talented person. She was loved dearly by her family. She was a giving person and her house was always open to all that came. Survivors include her husband, Woody Richardson of Odessa; her daughters, Beverly Armstrong of Fort Worth and Linda Harbison of Odessa; her sons, A.K. "Butch" Richardson of Katy and Ron Richardson of Andrews; her sisters, Wanda Eggleston of Carlsbad, N.M., Faye Morgan of Weatherford, Francis Manley of Odessa and Evelyn Hunt of Alvin; 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. The family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday night at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Odessa Christian School. Services are under the care of Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. _________________________________________________________________ ODESSA Benjamin Allen Magallanez, 20, of Odessa, a crane operator, passed away Monday, July 31, 2000, at Medical Center Hospital. Ben was born in Odessa Oct. 25, 1979, to Bernardo and Pearl Magallanez. Ben was an active young man who enjoyed fishing and drawing. Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. today at Buenos Nuevos Church with the Rev. Rosario Hill officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Ben is survived by his mother, Pearl Magallanez and his stepfather, Harvey Casarez, both of Odessa; his father, Bernardo Magallanez of Odessa; one sister, Andrea Magallanez of Odessa; and his grandparents, Irene Quintanialla of New Braunfels and Natividad and Andreas Magallanez of Odessa. He is also survived by his special nephew, Isaiah Magallanez of Odessa. Services are under the direction of Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. _________________________________________________________________ RANKIN Services for Elsworth Greer, 85, of Rankin are scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church with the Revs. Jim Medley and Ferris Akins officiating. The casket will lie in state at the church. Burial will be at 3 p.m. at East Hill Cemetery in Fort Stockton under the direction of Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. Mr. Greer passed away Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2000, in Midland. He was born March 13, 1915, in Barksdale. He married Lahoma Rixse May 22, 1937, in Imperial. She preceded him in death Feb. 3, 1973. He later married Judy Perry Nov. 10, 1979, in Rankin. Mr. Greer moved to Rankin in 1979 from Imperial and was owner of Greer Oil Company. He was a member of the State Firemen and Fire Marshalls Association of Texas and taught for 35 years at the Texas A & M Fire Training School and a member of the National Volunteer Fire Council. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Rankin, where he served as deacon, Imperial Masonic Lodge, Rankin Fire Department, Lions Club and the Rankin City Council. He was a life member of the Imperial Fire Department and served as director of Upton County Fire District Number One, a former school board member in Buena Vista Independent School District and was a retired justice of the peace for Pecos County. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Elma Greer; grandson, Steven Terzich; sister, Nella Wooldridge; and brother, James Greer. Survivors include: Spouse, Judy Greer of Rankin; sons, Dan E. Greer and wife, Marlene, of Snyder, Leldon Greer and wife, Peggy, of Imperial and Sammy Heflin and wife, Tonie, of St. Lawrence; daughters, Eloma Ashwin of Crane, Laureen Terzich and husband, Ron, of Castroville, Shirley Peel and husband, Kraig, of College Station and Sherie Johnson and husband, Teddy, of Odessa; sisters, Kayloma Dean and husband, L.J., Geraldine Tucker and husband, Richard, and Eileen Coleman and husband, James Henry, all of Campwood; 26 grandchildren; and 32 great-grandchildren.
